February 12, 20196 yr I see we all have jokes.... I probably should have been more specific, any recommendations on something to prepare at home for dinner?Besides, finding a good spot at this late stage would be a challenge. If your wife likes beef then you can't go wrong with a good filet. For fish, get some red snapper and pan saute it in a little butter and finish with a good squeeze of lemon. Top with freshly chopped parsley. For chicken do chicken picatta. Buy thin sliced chicken from HEB and lightly flour and salt and pepper it and saute it in a little olive oil until it's almost done. Add about 1/2 cup of chicken stock and some lemon juice (1/2 lemon) to the pan and continue cooking until the sauce thickens. Top with some capers and chopped parsley. Serve any of the above with your choice of vegetables and some roasted potatoes or angle hair pasta with the piccata. Buy her favorite desert from a good bakery. And start the meal with champagne while you cook after you've had a glass of your favorite whiskey/beer or whatever.

February 13, 20196 yr https://www.alaskankingcrab.com/Go to US Foods on Alpha just east of Midway and get 10 lbs for what that website is charging for 3 lbs.
February 13, 20196 yr The bagged-up pre-made dinners from Central Market along with a handwritten card is always a winner. Better than the usual effort which is taking wife to a limited prix-fixe dinner that is overpriced at a mediocre restaurant in an effort to prolong the illusion that the marriage still has merit. There are two types of relationships in your mid-40's....those that require a half-assed effort this time each year...those are on borrowed time. And then there is the second kind, where you let her know you have a calendar, that you care, that you find societal convention laughable, and she still gargles your balls whilst stroking the shaft. Also girl...there will be chocolates... Edited February 13, 20196 yr by Lobo
February 13, 20196 yr It's been a minute but does the Yellow Rose still have the buffet? If not, Luby's.

February 14, 20196 yr JFC, only amateurs go out to dinner on Valentine's day. You will go overpay for some pre done meal at some high end place. And it will be lame. If you really want to get some, cook your lady a dinner that will set the tone for the evening.
February 14, 20196 yr Yep cook something at home, drink, smash and then go out to dinner this weekend

February 14, 20196 yr We are going to go to BD's Mongolian BBQ tomorrow for a romantic dinner with our 6 and 9 year old kids tomorrow. I will probably order the strongest IPA on the menu, and drink more when we get home and sleep in the basement. Eat shit jealous motherfuckers. I own Valentine's Day.
February 14, 20196 yr Wife didn't like it when I told her I didn't give a shit about this holiday. I always say the darndest things.

February 14, 20196 yr Jim's on Burnet and 183 is very, very good. Great atmosphereMy wife and I moved back to Austin after almost thirty years and we just went there for the nostalgia. It sucked.

February 15, 20196 yr Gonna start this off on cast iron coated in duck fat. Should work our okay. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I picked up a 2 inch dry aged strip but the wife nixed that. So it’s lobster instead. Oh and these.
February 15, 20196 yr My wife said she is “morally opposed” to Valentine’s Day. No cards, no gifts, no fighting the crowds for a rushed prix fixe menu. Makes my life easy. We’ll eat out this weekend, but we do that every weekend and we don’t need a stupid holiday to force us to do it under subpar circumstances.
February 15, 20196 yr King crab is easy to cook and was a big winner for my NYE dinnner. I brought home bbq and flowers at lunch. Made mushroom risotto for dinner and now in bed while she works. A V day that limits expenses and has no disappointment is a win.
