What about Ryan Gosling?

Good in Blade Runner and Drive.

Funny as hell in The Nice Guys. He can actually act and cover both sides of Wayne and Batman.

I forget who said it best about this (maybe Kevin Smith), but you're not casting Batman, you're casting Bruce Wayne.

To me, Jon Hamm would be great for it.

Would be too similar to Christian Bale, IMO. Ron Swanson for the win...

Why do we need another Batman?

I think this is a good question. Who cares who the actor is if DC is trying to fit square pegs into round holes. Do they want to make a Batman movie or do they want to make him fit into a universe with fucking Aquaman.

Absolutely correct. That's why Christian Bale is a bit overrated in that role...he obviously was great as Batman(despite the voice), but as Bruce Wayne didn't think he was the best(that's Keaton)

Wasn't the batman in waiting supposed to be the 3rd rock kid?

3 words for ya.

Spoiler

Tom fuckin Cruise.

He said he would only do it if the La La Land director helmed the movie. Then he laughed.

Dacre Montgomery - if they want to go younger

Armie Hammer - if they want classic batman

He could also bond with Robin.

But seriously, Lee Pace would kill it

He has done some good stuff. The 1st bad dude in the GOTG.

How about Gene Chizek.

You know a Redford Batman with a Hanicap License plate on the Batmobile could be a fun new direction. Or Morgan Freeman as Bruce and Redford as Robin.

The fight crime in Boca Raton.

He shoulda been Jack Reacher over wee Tom Cruise.

If they go with a traditional Bruce Wayne, then he begins to be Batman in his mid-late 20's in most iterations.  25 from original comics.  Even if he's "grown" into the job with 7-8 years of experience, he's in his early 30's and this is reportedly the version DC is returning to after trying out Frank Miller's older Batman.  So the John Hamm's or Keanu Reeves (JFC) or Liev Schreiber suggestions are misplaced.  To give you an idea, Christian Bale had just turned 30 when he began production on Batman Begins.  The casting is probably going to be someone between 26-35 years old.  Oldest, will probably be late 30's.

Ok I put in the metrics above to get a list going (Male 26-35). No way to filter based on height. Currently sorted by some IMDB popularity metric.

I have no fucking idea who most of these people are and have a hard time seeing any of them producing anything I'd be interested in watching after growing up with Keaton and later enjoying Bale.

I like that you (using term loosely) have Haley Joel Osment and Joffery in there...... Gleeson quit acting or is taking a break, but was the kid in Batman Begins.

Kyrie Irving is on page 3.

And does it really matter? No one is ever topping Bale. That ship has sailed. Just like no one is ever topping my avatar.

I agree with you but also remember that no one thought anyone would ever top Nicholson's joker.

Wasn’t Adam west’s Batman gay?

I actually meant to say that Kevin Durand should have been Jack Reacher.  For whatever that's worth.

What about Nicholas Hoult as a younger Batman?

People weren't gay back then. He was just a very happy batman.

One name that has not been thrown around that could be a fit:

Keaton >>>>> Bale.

Or batman beyond

So this was floated on Kevin Smith’s podcast.

Let Michael Keaton play the old batman manning the cave alfred style and a new young actor play that role.
