I think I'm in on this.  I don't have high hopes but if I spend a couple of days with Beatles songs stuck in my head I think it'll be worth 10 bucks.

Saw that trailer today at a movie. Not sure what to think about it. Kind of odd. The movie “Isn’t it Romantic” has a similar concept of being hit and waking up to a different life.

It would save some dumbasses on Surly from claiming The Beatles are overrated

In.  Even if I weren’t a Beatles fan.   They’re no Zeppelin, Floyd, Beach Boys, or Buddy Holly,  but it’s nice seeing the Beatles getting their due.

When is the middle America opening date?

That would be me and I will enjoy watching this movie that shows a world the beatles don't exist in!

The premise of the movie assumes that Beatles songs would be popular if they were released today. Where would Yesterday even be played today?

I’ll see it though.

There would be a market for them, but the songs wouldn't catapult this guy into stardom like the trailer suggests happens.  Maybe built into the premise is that societies music tastes didn't devolve to lowest common denominator.

nope.  Coldplay and Ed Sheeran are both famous in the movie.

The Beatles inspired so many future rock stars to become rock stars it would be impossible to imagine the current musical landscape. Virtually nothing we hear now would even exist.

Damn.  It’s like I got hit by a bus and came to only to find out the other thread on this movie never existed.

Yup.  That would have been a great service to Surly and to humanity.

Shit on the Beatles all you want, but while it’s no Pet Sounds, Sgt. Peppers is a pretty competent album.  If they had stayed together and Harrison was more involved in the songwriting (on par with John and Paul), who knows how big they would have gotten.  To the movie’s credit, they did play Something, their best song, so Beatles fans should be happy.
