I just hate the hype that England got coming in.  They bully lesser teams on flat pitches but their bowling is shit and for the most part they are mental midgets.  Bat first against them, put up a half decent total and they collapse.  If you have two very good bowlers (both NZ and India have that plus some) they can be picked off pretty cheap.

We're talking about MLB baseball. You probably don't, unless Pablo Sandoval became Bo Jackson overnight and I somehow missed it. Let me know when their outfielders ditch the giant-ass gloves

  • Still all this nonsense about "Dhonis role" in the ODI side. It's called "winner."

Ball of the tournament so far.  I turned the TV on one ball before this one.  Impeccable timing 😎

Black Caps off to a rough start against PAK as they have already dropped three wickets and we haven’t completed 12 overs yet.  Their openers combined for a smoooooth 17 runs off 21 balls.  My Kiwi buddy must be livid since he’s been calling for Munro to be demoted the last couple of weeks.

Finch really set Stokes up perfectly.  Cummins has a tendancy to be a bit short, and the pitch was drying out.  It encouraged Stokes to step out, and then Starc bowled a perfect yorker.

Pakistan in complete control against New Zealand in game 7. Some eerie parallels with the 1992 World Cup:

That's just CricInfo having nothing to write about. Yes, the parallels are there but I do not see Pakistan beating India or Australia in a knockout match. Cue Charles Barkley, "I may be wrong, but I doubt it."

Not going to lie, I feel dirty rooting for Pakistan to hand the Kiwis a loss today.

There's a small part of me that want's to see New Zealand finally break through and win a World Cup.

My buddy is drinking away his pain at the Kiwi Bar in Bangkok at the moment.  He has had a few choice words to say about Mr. Munro via various social media apps.

It's not over for your buddy yet. Pakistan lost a couple of early wickets.

I want Pakistan to get its shit together so it improves India's positioning in the table. Lord knows that India won't benefit from run rate differential.

And down goes New Zealand! The irony of it is that Pakistan should root for India to win against India's remaining opponents to improve their chances of making the knock out rounds.

In the World Cup, history has shown it's always better to peak late than early. Pakistan could be very dangerous if they sustain this run.

Dhoni ruining another Indian innings after promoting himself up the order. 16 runs from 30 deliveries without a single boundary, and denying Kohli the strike.

That's a low number for the Windies to chase.  How is this the same side that put 352 on the Aussies?

That meme describes the match to a tee. I was hopping mad after that ludicrous batting performance. India were definitely 40-50 runs short of par. Vijay Shankar and Kedar Jadav have no business batting again. I want to see Dinesh Karthik and Ravindra Jadeja in the playing XI (yes, I might have said this a couple of times before - but seriously they would be an upgrade to the middle order and extend the batting lineup). Dhoni is still a problem batting - he is taking too long to get going and isn't farming the strike well at all.

But then the West Indies decided to have an even more awful batting performance (thanks Shai Hope and Carlos Brathwaite!), which made India appear more dominant today than what was actual reality. So now it is all good, until I start sweating on Sunday watching India play in Birmingham (although the English should be sweating after India's win today).

South Africa put an absolute ass whipping on Sri Lanka.  England should be disqualified from semi-finals for losing to Sri Lanka.

Man what a match between AFG and PAK.  Pakistan survive due to some of the absolute worst captaincy you will ever see.  He had Rashid Khan and other spin bowlers available on a turning pitch but decides to put himself into the attack.  Promptly gives up 18 runs in the 46th(?) over to give Pakistan life.  His bank accounts need to be audited and for his personal safety he better not stroll the streets of Kabul without a security escort.

New Zealand got off to a great start against AUS having them down 92/5 in the 21st over with Finch, Warner, Smith and Maxwell all back in the changing room.  Khawaja and Carey decide to take over and put up a great partnership and Australia winds up with 243 / 9.  Considering where they were early in the innings that was a heck of a comeback.  Now NZ are completely falling apart and are in a good spot to miss the semi-finals.  Freaking chokes.

My Kiwi buddy is livid and said he is off to go break shit.

I left to day drink with NZ cruising and came back to see they completely collapsed.  I mean, go Baggie Green, but damn.

The Aussies should be the favorites for the title...for now. You would have thought it would be best to chase against them and along comes Mitchell Starc.

Pakistan has only one round robin match left...against Bangladesh, so that match looms large (and is usually a grudge match). They have to root for India to beat England tomorrow...lulz.

I would like to see India chase tomorrow if they win the toss. IIRC, Birmingham should have a flat wicket. But this match makes me nervy because England are desperate and bringing out all the stops.

Other than his innings against Australia and a nice catch in the last match, Dhoni has been a liability this tournament.  Not going for DRS was unforgivable and it looked like Dhoni talked Kohli out of it.

I wish they could drop him.

India will need to chase 400 if they aren't careful.

And can somebody please freaking get Jadeja a game...

He just made a hell of a catch.

I also wonder how the show left arm spin would do... batsman would have to generate all of the pace

Might as well let him have a few overs because no one else is doing shit.

F, never mind I forgot he came in as the sub for KLR.

Small window crack opening to get back into it, pressure needs to be ramped up to avoid Root and Morgan starting another one of their long partnerships.

Spinners have been costly this innings. It looks as if Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik will be in the playing XI for India (both are fielding). Not sure about Jadeja since he came in as a sub for KL Rahul. It will be good for India to chase and I think they can do it on this pitch. Just have to play shots in a disciplined manner. I just hope Dhoni's bat does not become essential.

Missing Bhuvneshwar in the death. What good is Shami's 5-for when he hemorrhages so many runs?

This is going to be a typical post-2011 India chase. Bowled out for 200 or Dhoni taking it to the last over with a chance.

How good is Jasprit Bumrah? When it is all said and done, he might go down as India's greatest bowler ever - definitely greatest death bowler.

There is no way India chase this down with the likes of Vijay Shankar and Kedar Jadav. Running between wickets will be critical - can not have many dot balls as this is essentially 7 run/over chase.

You want Pant to open? Is KL Rahul officially ruled out?

Yeah I would open Pant. He is too young to trust at the death. But with the fielding restrictions in the first 10 overs and his inability to play slow (let's call it the exuberance of youth), he could set up the chase with a rapid fire 50. He'll hack at Wood and Jofra. If he gets out so what, this chase was always going to require 200 runs between Rohit and Kohli.

Predicted batting lineup: Rohit, Pant, Kohli, Rahul, DK, Dhoni, Jadeja, Shami, Bumrah, Kuldeep?

Swap DK with Kedar. I think DK was a sub fielder. Actually so was Jadeja. The only change made for this game was Pant in for Vijay "3D" Shankar.
