We're talking about MLB baseball. You probably don't, unless Pablo Sandoval became Bo Jackson overnight and I somehow missed it. Let me know when their outfielders ditch the giant-ass gloves

  • Still all this nonsense about "Dhonis role" in the ODI side. It's called "winner."

Mumbai into the IPL after a pretty easy win over Chennai.  Hyderabad and Delhi play today and winner gets Chennai in the eliminator.  Mumbai has the best overall squad, Delhi has some great young players that are fun to watch, Hyderabad probably doesn’t have any chance since their only two batsmen departed a while back for World Cup prep, and Chennai is basically an old folks home cricket squad.

But the IPL script writers love them some MS Dhoni so the final will probably be MI vs  CSK like usual.

IPL Final today MI vs CSK.  Pretty much exactly what the script writers wanted.  MI has by far the better team, but with IPL being as rigged as WWE I wouldn't be surprised if Dhoni pulls off a "magical" win a dramatic fashion.

Mumbai not looking so great early... on track for a 150-160 total

Dhoni chose to chase, and hard to bet against him when he does.

Lol Malinga made an absolute hash of that catch. Watson's been dropped twice now.

MI won the toss and elected to bat.  Didn't understand the decision at the time, but guess it worked out in the end despite their pathetic innings (save Pollie).

And congrats to MI; heck of a final... the script writers way out did themselves.

Malinga was just fucking awful the entire match then comes in to save the day in the last over.  Jasprit Bumrah - big fucking brass ones on that guy.

Lol I missed the toss, just assumed winner would chase.

Hell of a game.

It's officially World Cup Season.

Mumbai Indians had absolutely no business winning this final. Mistake after mistake after mistake, drop after drop after drop. But CSK made their own share of mistakes, especially running between the wickets, and didn't hit a single boundary in the last two overs. Bumrah is a beast.

I thought MI was going to have to play perfect in the field to defend their total but somehow they pulled it off even with the bonehead mistakes.  Great bowling can always keep you in it.

Sri Lanka / Pakistan rained out yesterday so they call it a N/R and give each side one point in the table.  What kind of bullshit is that?

Can you imagine the outrage if one of the big three misses the SF round by one point because their match against Sri Lanka or Afghanistan got washed out?

Can Australia set a record chase for 353 at the Oval? I think they'll get close but run out of time (wickets/deliveries), Aggy style.

Through 12 overs they're matching India's early pace exactly. and haven't lost a wicket yet...

If India lose, Hardik's bowling will be one of the major reasons. He's too expensive, but thank God he's met his overs quota. Wonder when Chahal will be sent into the attack.

Rain's starting to come down in earnest. DLS par score is 118, Australia's at just 106/1...

I'm watching live. I see no rain and commentator hasn't indicated any precipitation. The clouds are menacing though.

Fucking hell Jadhav. Quit bowling that shit against right-handed batsmen.

That was a pricy over. Indian all-rounders are bowling shitty. Can't afford that especially if wickets are not falling.

And they bring Hardik back to bowl. Not ideal. I would try Jadeja since he's on the pitch.

Got him!!! Warner falls!

Mixed feelings about his wicket. He wasn't the David Warner we all come to expect today, but he was the anchor today. Oh well, a wicket is a wicket.

Breaking the partnership and removing a set batsman with potential to accelerate was important, I think.

Khawaja is aggressive and a fast scorer, but has trouble with spin at times. He can be had.

Feels like something has to give here. Bowling is tight, the pressure is mounting and Smith is raring to score boundaries.

This is basically a T20 match now. Australia has to score ~200 off of the last 20 overs.

If India can keep restricting Australia to ~5 runs an over, then wickets might not matter considering it's becoming a T20 chase setting.

Maybe Khawaja will try to take the strike because Steven Smith has gone turtle.

Bumrah still has six overs left, and Bhuvi has five. Using the part-timers in the middle of the innings could pay off in the death.

Bowl out Kuldeep and Chahal...takes India to 38. Maybe 1 more from Hardik. Might be a more expensive over. Australia starting to get one boundary per over. It's close.

I still worry because Glenn Maxwell lurks with the next wicket.

4 runs for Maxwell on his first ball. Yup, I had reason to worry.

Maxwell with another boundary to open the next over. If he gets going, India could be cooked.

Bowl Chahal to throw things off for Maxwell and hope for a wicket.

When Bumrah comes to bowl his next over, he needs to heavily rely on his yorker...no question.
