I would make it so that there is no fluke run out in that situation. Or tell the guy to stay in his crease until the ball passes the wicket? I agree that fluke run outs like that suck, but the off-strike batsman does have a way to avoid it.
July 4, 20196 yr Pakistan has to beat Bangladesh by 314 runs to make it to the knock out rounds. I don't think Bangla is feeling that charitable. India should thrash Sri Lanka just cuz it's the right thing to do.
July 4, 20196 yr I guess technically India can overtake Australia if Australia goes brain dead and loses to SA and India take care of business against SL. I don't want to have to face the Crumpet Munchers on that dastardly Edgbaston pitch again.

I don't want to have to face the Crumpet Munchers on that dastardly Edgbaston pitch again. South Africa is as useful as tits on a bull in this World Cup, so is Lanka (although the two teams that have absolutely no business being here are currently playing). You would think India learned several lessons from the previous tilt against the Wankers. There is also an outside chance that India ends up playing in Manchester for the semis. In any case:
July 4, 20196 yr Sri Lanka did the world a favor when they whipped the Poms. The expected 4 teams advance, but that match at least made the last week and a half interesting.
July 5, 20196 yr Today's match between BAN and PAK on paper could be real fun. Unfortunately with neither team having anything to play for I'm afraid it won't live up to potential. Personally, I hope Shakib goes for a double century and BAN beat the piss out of them.
July 5, 20196 yr It's officially official. Pakistan scored 315/9 in their innings, had to restrict Bangla to 7 runs or fewer to go to the SFs. Obviously it didn't happen.
July 5, 20196 yr He's only the third batsman to get 600 runs in a WC and he did it in only 8 matches. Tendulkar in 2003 and Hayden in 2007 did it in 11. Well done Shakib, well done.
July 5, 20196 yr I don't know how many trees there are in Pakistan, but they must have a world class left-arm fast bowler growing on every one of them. Good grief, Afridi went off today.

If not for partition the combined powers would have won every world cup in the past 40 years.

July 6, 20196 yr India and Australia have matches tomorrow that could potentially determine who the topper is. With the four teams proceeding to knockout being Australia, India, England, and New Zealand, what are the semifinals: #1 vs #4 and #2 vs #3? or #1 vs #3 and #2 vs #4???

SFs are #1 vs. #4 and #2 vs. #3. Unless we beat SL and the Proteas upsets Australia, we'll play England on Thursday at Edgbaston.

July 6, 20196 yr I will go to my grave saying the farce of a coin toss should be eliminated in cricket when one side has a definite “home ground” advantage. The away side should automatically be given the choice to either bat or field since the home side typically tailors the pitch to maximize its team’s chances. Now if there was a situation with no home field advantage such as Australia playing against England on the subcontinent then they can use a coin toss.
July 6, 20196 yr 4 hours ago, UDontKnow said: Still should aim to beat Lanka and hope that India win the toss and bat first in Birmingham. The only way the SF pairings can change is if India beats SL and SA beats Team Sandpaper. In that case it would be India vs Black Caps and Aus vs Eng. SA isn’t winning their match unless Aus rest key guys like Starc, Warner, etc. Since they have already been off an extended period I don’t see that happening.

July 6, 20196 yr He did not finish well. He had given up 21 runs in his first eight overs and gave up 19 in his final two. The entire team seems uninterested the last ten overs or so. Edited July 6, 20196 yr by Fudge Nuggets
July 6, 20196 yr Really poor stuff from Bhuvneshwar Kumar. India had SL reeling at 55/4 and he handed them back the momentum with a very expensive spell that produced no wickets.
July 6, 20196 yr Bhuvi was complete ass in the innings. Terrible bowling and a big drop of Mathews that would have limited damage done later. India will get some practice at chasing.
July 6, 20196 yr SA's blasted 80 runs off of the first 12 overs... India has to chase this, there's a real chance of grabbing the #1 seed
July 6, 20196 yr Man, this is the least stressful run chase I've seen from India 😃 177/0 in 28 overs with Rohit on the verge of a century
July 6, 20196 yr Sharma hits it down mid-on's throat. 77 runs now needed with nine wickets in hand. Edited July 6, 20196 yr by satyanash
July 6, 20196 yr Great freaking knock by Rohit, and let’s not sleep on a very nice innings by KLR as well. I said India would get some chase practice, but the two openers have taken care of most of it.
July 6, 20196 yr That 4 by Kohli looked like one of his most aggressive hits of the tournament. I think Rohit / KL have them seriously fired up.
July 6, 20196 yr Here we go... SA's set a target of 326 for Australia to chase. If they can't reach it, it'll be India vs. NZ on Tuesday.
July 6, 20196 yr They will chase it in heartbreaking fashion. Mitchell Starc with three sixes off the last three balls to win by one wicket. Because God hates me.
July 6, 20196 yr Thanks for the memories Malinga. I assume he along with Gayle will continue playing T20’s. MA-LIN-GA forever.
July 6, 20196 yr That match was a real joy to watch. I mean no one can hate Sri Lanka and they put up a good fight with the bat after starting off slow. But the India innings was just about perfection.
July 6, 20196 yr Don't look now, but Australia's on shaky ground! 44/2 from their first 10 overs, with Steve Smith already back in the pavilion. Edited July 6, 20196 yr by satyanash
July 6, 20196 yr Looks good so far, but as long as Warner is still out there, it’s dangerous. Too many times over the years I’ve seen teams get Aus on the ropes then take the foot off their throats.
July 6, 20196 yr Stoinis back stiffening up and getting a back massage during the drinks break. Can we send Carlos Correas’ masseuse to the Aussie changing room?
July 6, 20196 yr 158 needed from 18 overs... tough but definitely doable the way Warner's playing. Warner on the verge of his century.
July 6, 20196 yr SA are known for their choking and Aus are probably the toughest out in history. No way SA wins this if Warner bats 8 more overs.
