February 21, 20196 yr Almost Famous for sure. I'm also a big fan of Garden State's soundtrack. Urban Cowboy is up there for me as well. Crazy Heart. Won Ryan Bingham an Oscar. Edited February 21, 20196 yr by Whatever
February 21, 20196 yr 4 hours ago, Don Johnson said: These were all right in my wheelhouse, so totally agree. Also think Singles is wayyyyy to low at 47. Songs from PJ, Soundgarden, Pumpkins, Westerberg, AiC, Screaming Trees, etc. And not just songs - great songs. Many of which were not previously released or were unheard in mainstream. Its one thing to have a soundtrack like Forest Gump or the Big Chill and get the rights to a bunch of hits. Its another to releases a soundtrack with a bunch of unheard music. I still listen to Singles all the time. It's gotta be top 10.
February 22, 20196 yr They definitely confused musical score with soundtrack on a couple of them. Overall it's a pretty good list. Personally I'd have Singles way higher, I'd include Visionquest and Urban Cowboy, and a few of the others that have been tossed out.
February 22, 20196 yr Crazy Heart is an excellent submission. A great album that stands on its own. The casual observer is surprised that Jeff Bridges does such a competent job with T. Bone Burnett & Stephen Bruton's songs. And The Weary Kind by Burnett/Bingham is perfection. I'll also throw out Once. Sure, most of the songs were versions of previously released tracks by Swell Season/The Frames, but add in two sublime Van Morrison covers & you've got a perfect soundtrack to accompany unrealized love on the streets of Dublin.

February 22, 20196 yr It would probably be a lot easier for me, and probably more interesting overall, to note the best soundtracks by decade. And I could likely name 20-something great soundtracks for each decade, at least for the 70s, 80s, and 90s anyway.
February 22, 20196 yr This is some kind of a fucking joke, right? How in the flying fuck is the obvious #1 choice not on the list....or did I miss the disclaimer that this is a list of top 50 besides Fast Times? Pathetic. Singles, Dazed, and Apocalypse too low as well. Fuck that list If you're between about 45 and 55, tell me there aren't 4 or 5 scenes from that movie that don't pop in your head when hearing certain songs.... There are lots of great soundtracks not mentioned or too low. I still Give the nod to The Graduate. How many other soundtracks with original music are now part of popular culture. Simon & Garfunkels original music for that movie is some of the best music of the generation it was created, my opinion of course. That's my definition of greatest soundtrack
