If you like buttery sugar cookies, you should try the Simply Made by Keebler.  Granted more like "shortbread," but simple and good.

Store bought would have to be

oreo

nutter butter

pecan sandies

the original oreo is clearly at the top.

then

6bc55b11-021e-4c86-9915-f09687b406c0_1.6

the tie for #3 is wide ranging

Homemade:

1) Chocolate Chip

2) White chocolate chip with macadamia nuts

3) Peanut butter with the criss-cross marks on top

Commercial:

1) Caramel Delights aka Samoas

2) Oreos

3) Little Debbie Fudge Rounds

Snickerdoodles, Snickerdoodles, and then probably Snickerdoodles.

False

Patently false. They don’t even put them with the rest of the cookies. They get shunned over with lemon bars.

Until you name your top 3, you're nothing more than an ant at a picnic.  Man up, son.

Chocolate crinkle cookies

Chewy molasses cookies

Black and white cookies

Non-qualifying top contender - Whoopie pie

Chocolate chip cooked in a muffin tin with a miniature Reese’s peanut butter cup puts those to shame.

Very this.

Never heard of this. It's like finding my first Hustler. Everything has changed.

you and i seem to have the exact same taste in junk food. how do you feel about buffalo pretzel pieces?

I don't like snickerdoodles.  There, I said it.

I recognize that there are many snickerdoodle devotees, and I'm not saying they suck or anything-- I just don't like them.

1. Oreos (original, not any of the abominations)

2. Keebler fudge stripes (how tiny a donut can you create by eating around the hole without breaking it?)

3. Lorna Doone

I feel bad for y'all who hear cookie rankings and immediately think of cookie brands.

Didn't anybody ever love you and make you homemade cookies?

Chocolate chip (properly made) is the goat. And it's a big gulf between one and two.

Did we stop doing phrasing when we migrated from the scat site?

Someone gave me some the other day that had the Hershey's Kiss with an almond inside.  Delicious.

1.  Chocolate chip

2.  Peanut butter

3.  Sugar, with some really good frosting

Non-qualifier:  chocolate-dipped peanut butter balls

1) peanut butter
2) sugar
3) chocolate chip

My favorite cookie right now, and I shit you not, is HCF"s soft chocolate chip cookies at HEB:

Everyone knows that homemade is the best. But how can I prove that my Grandma's chocolate chip is vastly superior to your mom's piece of shit Oatmeal Raisin?

Store bought is the only route to a universally accepted, certifiable belt. And this is The Champion:

Chocolate chip/chunk with extra chocolate and pecans

Chocolate chip/chunk with pecans

Chocolate chip/chunk

Home made:

1. Chocolate chip, with both morsels and chunks.

2. Peanut butter (extra credit for adding a few chocolate chunks).

3. Oatmeal raisin.

Store-bought:

1. Trader Joe's Cookie Butter Cookies.

2a. Double-stuf Oreo

2b. Oreo Duo (one chocolate cookie, one vanilla cookie)

3.  Walker's Shortbread

1. Any cookie from Tiff's Treats

2. Oatmeal chocolate chip from Potbelly

3. Everything else

This pretty much sums it up for me, though if I could add a fourth cookie, it would be the Oatmeal Cranberry Orange cookies from Central Market.

For mass produced national brands, I enjoy the following:

Original Chips Ahoy - frozen

Girl Scout Thin Mints - frozen

Pepperidge Farms Milano

Girl Scout thin mints....  for the win, frozen of course, served with ice cold whole milk.

This is the best chain restaraunt cookie. I’m not sure there is another one that is close.

On the homemade front, chocolate oatmeal cookies are a solid choice as well.

1. Peanut Butter w/chocolate chips.

2. Kitchen Sink Cookies

3. Oatmeal Raisin

That's not double stuffed.

Anyone seen these in the wild? Seems like an interesting twist.

Arbys, of all places, has a delicious salted caramel cookie.  I think of Chad Briscoe every time I'm in there.

Oatmeal raisin

snickersoodle

The Doubletree chocolate chip was a tasty commercial option.  But I haven't stayed at a Doubletree in years, do they still do that?

I heard on the radio that Oreo has a buttered popcorn cookie, never have seen them in the store though.

My current favorite is the Chewy Chips Ahoy.

Isn't this basically an E.L. Fudge in Oreo form?

I celebrate every cookie mentioned on here so I'm not going to bother naming a favorite.  I just came to say y'all need to try these hoes:
