I'd like to see all this in Palo Alto at least one game.

Quintanilla gets a K to end the inning.

Hibbeler can't buy a hit but he's had some good swings tonight. Made good contact several times tonight.

Reagan is a tough out. Some really good AB's tonight.

Diaz gets a K to end the inning. Texas leads 9-4 after 7.

Hibbeler flies out to the warning track to end the inning. He can't buy a hit right now.

Diaz will eventually be the closer.

Will be interesting to see what they do with Mason Bryant if this is the case. He looks like he could be a closer.

setup man?

Diaz is made for the closer role. Attacks the zone.

Just getting Ellis out of the game with a lead. Don't need our best player to get injured.

11-4 Texas, Shaw grounds out and McCann scores from third.

3-1 on the road.

I'll take it.

3-1 all on the road starting 2 FR arms, a Sophomore, and several FR bats.

Pierce is probably pleased with that start.

Good win boys, lets at least go 3-1 this weekend against Purdue and hopefully we'll be at worst 8-2 heading into the showdown with LSU.

Call me crazy or maybe not but I think by no later than the start of conference play you could see Quintanilla as the Saturday starter and Madden as the Sunday starter.

3-1 on the road to start the season given our opponents is reason enough to be happy.  I don't know what's more unrealistic though...that we take 4 against Purdue, or what we even get 4 games in this weekend given the weather.   I'd say 3-0 is more likely.  And overall, damn fine way to start the season.  Congrats to this young team for taking care of business on the road and they deserve a great homestand for the next couple of weeks.

Bocchi is going to be in the mix for one of those weekend spots.

Purdue was a regional team last year.  I don't think LSU is as good as everyone says, I also don't think Purdue is as bad as you think.

They were swept by Southern Miss this weekend but Southern Miss is good. Sounds like they lost a lot of players from last year's team.

"Although Purdue’s season last year was magical, it may be hard to get the same production out of this year’s group. Purdue lost four players to the draft and a handful of other players who were key during last year's run.

Jacson McGowan and Nick Dalesandro, two of Purdue's best players behind the plate, were both drafted. Tanner Edwards and Ross Leonard also departed from Purdue for the draft. Gareth Stroh, No. 2 in the pitching position, transferred to Nebraska."

Fair point.  4-1 this week should be the goal with Purdue and SHSU.  I just don’t see how we play 36 innings with this weather though.  But hey, here’s to a fun weekend.

Matt Bragga got a small taste of how our ass tastes last year in supers.

Now you'll get it yearly.

It looks like TJ surgery has served Quintanilla well - touching 97 last night when he was around 88-90 pre-TJ.  Looks like he had some pretty severe command issues though in the Northwoods League last year.

Good info.  Midwestern teams always seem to have a few guys who can rake, and I wouldn't be surprised if their Friday starter is pretty good.  After that, could be some depth issues.
