February 20, 20196 yr I saw the note from this weekend that SWA declared a company mechanical emergency and called in all their mechanics for mandatory OT, even threatening that if anyone called in sick without a doctors note they would be fired. I Saw several issues in the last few days about a lot of flights being cancelled, Today, I am seeing that they have been forced to cancel even more hundreds of flights. This seems like a major fuckup by their management/ logistics/ maintenance teams, Herb would be real pissed at you guys. https://www.cnn.com/2019/02/19/business/southwest-flight-cancellations/index.html
February 20, 20196 yr 1000 lb error on a 155,000 lb plane is 0.6% error. What’s the big deal? Do they need to calculate how much fuel to carry down to the last drop?
February 20, 20196 yr Heyya! It's all ball bearings nowadays. Now you prepare that Fetzer valve with some 3-in-1 oil and some gauze pads, and I'm gonna need 'bout ten quarts of anti-freeze, preferably Prestone. No, no make that Quaker State.

It’s been 7 years since their last contract. We always pull performance numbers for a weight 2,000 lbs above our predicted takeoff weight so that small overages aren’t a problem. I’d be surprised if they didn’t do the same. SWA is still a fantastic company, but it’s no longer Herb’s airline.

February 21, 20196 yr It’s just a blown nose tire. Not something indicative of poor mx practices. I’m almost surprised they didn’t take it on to Denver.
February 22, 20196 yr Author Now the entire fleet was grounded for about an hour this morning..... https://www.wbaltv.com/article/southwest-airlines-flights-grounded-nationwide-friday-morning-for-technical-issue/26465030
February 22, 20196 yr "Computer glitch." Yeah, that's the ticket. I'm sure the "glitch" was in the union's wage server.
