September 25, 20214 yr Except for birdie on 9 and eagle on 16 in the afternoon match? C'mon man, he putted like total shit in the AM, but lacking confidence he isn't. Those are the only two putts he made. He left a putt to win a match 3 feet short!
September 25, 20214 yr I edited mine. I think Finau, who will be aggressive on putts, is a decent replacement. JT is too tentative, based on his putt on 18 today. Okay I gotcha. You are talking Match ups and teams. I thought you meant JT not even being there and replacing him with another person. [emoji1787]
September 25, 20214 yr This is where I'm at. And if JT/JS don't shit the bed, it's at least 6.5-1.5. I recall at least 4-5 putts within 10-12 feet they missed.JT missed 5 putts within 9’. Jordo missed 1 7.5’er, and was 1 of 2 from 15-18’. If JT putts decently, the morning session is 4-0. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
September 25, 20214 yr Okay I gotcha. You are talking Match ups and teams. I thought you meant JT not even being there and replacing him with another person. [emoji1787][emoji23] no. I think he should sit both matches tomorrow. Let him relax and slot him in early or mid round Sunday.
September 25, 20214 yr Curious what the Birdie stats show for Morikawa, Cantlay, Xander, Berger, Koepka and Spieth?? What about DJ playing in the afternoon again if he's still on a roll Saturday?? Hope Stricker leaves the Bryson/Scottie pair alone and sends them out again Saturday afternoon. Besides DJ, JT, and Scottie, who else would partner well with Spieth in Fourball?? Leonard said the eight guys who Stricker sent out this afternoon were in the top 25 on Tour in birdies made this season. Went on to say that’s what you need in fourballs — guys that will make birdies.Hard to find any fault in his decisions when he’s got a 6-2 lead after one day. That doesn’t happen often and only one time before (the Euros in ‘99) did that team not go on to win.

A Friday lead for us isn’t unusual if I recall correctly over the last 10 years.

The US has typically jumped out to a lead in the AM session on the first day, only to give it all back in the afternoon. It's usually been even going into Saturday in the recent past. A 4-point lead after one day is not normal. I'll be shocked if the Euros beat us in singles Sunday. We are 8.5 points from the Cup after today. You can do the math from there.

Obviously it isn't over and we need to come out swinging tomorrow but even if they go 4-4 tomorrow they'd need 8/12 Sunday. 6-2 on day 1 is huge.

Yeah, 4-4 tomorrow makes it 10-6 US heading to singles. The US came back from that deficit in '99 and the Euros did it a few Cups ago. I think those are the only times a deficit that big has been made up. I love this US team after watching them today. I don't think our 12 loses to their 12 on Sunday. I see 6-6 at the worst in singles, which means they need six of eight points tomorrow.
September 25, 20214 yr Thanks to ESPiN for the “news” of Tiger’s inspirational message that apparently fueled the US team!

September 25, 20214 yr Sergio with another tee shot into the left bunker on one, just like yesterday. Berger pipes his down the center. We're off!

September 25, 20214 yr Rahm with a less than stellar pitch onto the green…have to take advantage to put pressure on Sergio. And as I typed this, helluva lag by Keopka. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
September 25, 20214 yr DJ sticks one close, Morikawa drains it. Up 1. Sergio misses the birdie, Berger drains it. Up 2. boom.gif

September 25, 20214 yr Garcia damn near hit it into Lake Michigan on the 3rd tee. Boat race. Berger's playing with great confidence this morning. They've got a great chance to go 3 up on the 3rd which would crush any chances the Euros have to get momentum on their side. Edited September 25, 20214 yr by GhostOfTomJoad
September 25, 20214 yr Rahm's shot from the green side swale doesn't stay on the green. Garcia's chip for par comes up short. 2 putts to win for the US.
September 25, 20214 yr DJ picking up where he left off, hell of an approach after Morikawa leaked his 2nd into the right rough. And then Morikawa cans the putt, up 2. Wheels wobbling badly on the Rahm/Garcia wagon. You hate to see it but at the same time you love to see it. Edited September 25, 20214 yr by Redneck Mutha
September 25, 20214 yr Morikawa's tee shot comes up short on the 3rd, and Casey hits it down into the same shit that Garcia hit into.
September 25, 20214 yr Just now, The Dude said: Fuck me. Already moving to NBC? The GC coverage was so much less obnoxious Yep. And now we're gonna miss ten minutes of action while they do their intro, re-cap, and assorted bullshit.

September 25, 20214 yr BIG putt by JT to halve the hole. Keep grinding. Garcia & Rahm got one back on 4, but Rahm just put it in the drink on 5!
September 25, 20214 yr Hovland and Wiesberger gonna run away with their match if Spieth and JT can't start hitting fairways and greens.
September 25, 20214 yr I mean JT and Spieth had 3 birdies and 1 bogey in alternate shot yesterday and got run over. right now they are even through three and down 2 shots. That’s buzzards luck. Sometimes it happens in match play. But yea JT can tighten it up any minute now.

September 25, 20214 yr I've always wondered...how do they decide what brand/type of ball they play in foursomes? These guys are perfectionists and know exactly how far they hit their usual ball.
