Well I don’t know why you would barrel age a marzen, but I look forward to Greenspoint’s review.

Best ever? In the whole world?

By the way I had a Austin Beer Works Oktoberfest last night whilst texting a subgroup of Surly posters (thank you chitwood ). I do not care much for Marzen style but this was really good.

Bad news everybody...

A team of agricultural specialists and climate economists published a new study Monday in the Journal of Nature Plants, found the connection between extreme weather conditions, such as drought or heat, and the global consumption of beer.

...

Researchers from the University of East Anglia warned that global beer supply could be in jeopardy due to extreme weather conditions affecting the production of barley -- the main ingredient in beer.

Their computer models found barley yields could plunge 3% to 17% across the world by the end of the century, which would trigger a 16% decline in global beer consumption and cause beer prices to inflate massively.

...

In the event of a substantial barley crop failure, computer models show beer prices could double worldwide, and the US would see a 20% collapse in beer consumption -- that would be equivalent to approximately 10 billion cans of beer. Places like Ireland could fair worse; beer price inflation would add an extra $21 per six-pack.

Don’t bother with stone Metallica lager. Cool can but Austin lagers are mucho better.

Current tradition any time I make it down to Austin: hit up Jester King/Stanley’s right when they open on Sunday for drinks and lunch before heading home. Good times.

armadillo ale has their brunch money in a can.  maybe this is news, maybe it's not, but i saw it for the first time last week at WF.  I think it was 3-4 years ago when it first came out in bombers, but then disappeared.  I guess they are brewing it now on their own setup.

Toppling Goliath is selling tickets to their 2018 KBBS release party. Can’t find what the ticket price is, but IF you’re able to score a ticket, you are entitled to purchase one 12oz bottle for just $100. Good luck everyone!

Unrelated, Great Heights Brewing is having an anniversary party Saturday November 17. We’ll have new beers, special glassware, and a couple of bands. No ticket required.

I did have a good beer in Miami my last trip from a local place in Wynnewood. Can’t recall the name now. Pretty sure I posted it on the old site.

This is very nice. I also appreciate non-bomber sized Pumpkinator bottles....especially bourbon barrel aged.
