April 8, 20187 yr Mosaic hops (well hops in general) are highly variable from season to season, from grower to grower, and from region to region. Its not unfounded that a beer, particularly a SMaSH beer would be pretty far ranging in flavor. A lot of brewers are going away from listing a beer's hops and just noting the characteristics overall. Don't buy aged beer. Edited April 8, 20187 yr by Bottlecap

April 8, 20187 yr Had some the other day and I agree. Perfect for the warmer days. I'm keeping an eye out for some cans.Thirded. Enjoying one now on the front porch since the sun is finally back out and it’s not stupid cold.
April 9, 20187 yr Moved on to this one, really like it. Had never heard of the brewery before. Coconut flavor is subtle but noticeable and works well.
April 9, 20187 yr Yellow Rose, or any other IPA, the fresher the better. Talking 2 weeks or less if you can. YR doesn't really age well. And the inconsistency I've seen has been more in the nose of the beer. I can't tell if it's poor QC on the brewhouse's part, or if the hops are just differing throughout the year. I can't imagine it's easy trying to procure quality hops year round with the same alphas from the same region, etc.

April 9, 20187 yr Went to Back Pew in Houston on Saturday. Had a great time. They had a helluva selection on tap that day, more than 20 I would guess. The 4-5 I had were all pretty decent. They had some funky ones though that were quirky and interesting but would not be able to finish a six pack of. One with rye, one with rice, a bourbon barrel stout with coconut cream pie. That last one was way too sweet for my tastes.
April 10, 20187 yr I really like these guys. And getting it from Reno canned in 4 days is always impressive.
April 10, 20187 yr Four Corners here in Dallas. The Luna Sol or whatever is greatSent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk
April 10, 20187 yr Peticolas will be distributing in Austin for the first time in July. But only in July.
April 11, 20187 yr Peticolas will be distributing in Austin for the first time in July. But only in July. Still on tap only?
April 11, 20187 yr Anyone try the new Shiner Sea Salt and Lime? Sounds like a good hot summer day beer. Edited April 11, 20187 yr by Hook1997
April 11, 20187 yr So they made a Gose? TBH, i've been kinda wanting to try their summer sampler pack, but i know that everything will taste a little bit off from a good brewery. Mango kolsch sounds fucking good in theory though. Let us know when one of you inevitably buys it how average it is. TIA
April 11, 20187 yr Shiners Mango Kolsch is solid. Always dug the prickly pear. The strawberry wheat tastes too artificial
April 12, 20187 yr Generally favor ambers and Vienna style lagers, but I’ve been on a porter kick lately. Some great ones as of late: OHB Vanilla 512 Pecan (well, been a fav for a while now) And this new discovery if you ever find yourself in the Carolinas. And on the amber side, St Arnold Spring Bock is a recent fav
April 12, 20187 yr You should try Hops & Grain Porter Culture if you haven't already. I rarely see it in HEB anymore when it's open. They're brewing all these new IPAs instead. But I enjoy those too.
April 12, 20187 yr Someone brought over La Frontera from BBB the other day, definitely getting another 6-er of that. And for you, nivek3, Yellow Rose is straight Mosaic and Pilsen hops. I don't get the grapefruit much at all, just a damn good SMaSH IPA. Unless you're saying you were getting Grapefruited while drinking the beer, then my hats off to you. I don't get grapefruit either, more of an orangy/pineapple, but definitely more sweet than bitter. These juicy style IPAs have officially won me over; I almost have to force myself to order anything else these days.Agree about the YR consistency issues mentioned by others. I've had a couple of bottles that were decent but not mind blowing. I've had a couple of others that I could be convinced were the GOAT.Brazos Valley High Noon at BB Rovers. Not as good as Willin' or Lost Highway but still pretty good. Would have been better if it'd been a couple or three degrees cooler. This seems to be a recurring problem at Rovers.

But I didn't drink much of the raspberry back then and when I did it was likely from the bottle. I haven't had one of the revivals yet.
April 13, 20187 yr It was pretty pink. Most folks weren't drinking pints, they were drinking bottles. And my friends and I were typically mixing it with Grand Cru to make CruBerry. Edited April 13, 20187 yr by utee94

April 14, 20187 yr Welp, for anyone interested, Decker Lake supermarket has 12s of Devils Backbone for 8.99 until they figure out they fucked up. Ran in on the way home from golf, had them price check it because honestly Saturday morning me didn’t want it to be true. Edited April 14, 20187 yr by Hank_Hill
April 14, 20187 yr Backbone is a easy way to get fucked up. Drink with caution. I actually like it blended with hans pils.

April 14, 20187 yr Well, it’s easy to find KBS in ABQ. Also had these just chilling there, with singles also available:Had Backwoods Bastard bombers (I guess that is year round now) too.
April 14, 20187 yr There's a NEW Mexico????My wife's relatives get that as a serious question when they tell people they're from there.
April 14, 20187 yr Phat, do you know what time teams will have crawfish ready today? Is it right when you open at 11? Gotta coordinate nap time for the little ones.

Gotta coordinate nap time for the little ones. i can’t say with any real certainty. all the teams are kind of on their own schedules. most have already been out here a couple hours though, so i would think some crawfish should be ready to go.

April 14, 20187 yr I don’t remember for sure, but I wanna say about $12-13. Afraid of that. Founders bombers pricing sucks compared to the 4 packs.
April 14, 20187 yr At the Art Car parade earlier and one of the guys behind me said 'Oh, that must be the Burger King car' when the St. Arnold's Prius drive by. What a dumbass.
April 14, 20187 yr Afraid of that. Founders bombers pricing sucks compared to the 4 packs. That it does. ~$20 for a Bomber of KBS or a 4 pack for ~$22. Hmmmm.
