March 5, 20196 yr I have two 50 gallon 120v hardwired water heaters, one went out last night, they are in a series, and the one that went out was the front unit, so no hot water. I am a builder and I have been using Eco 36 electric tankless, thought I might convert, here at home. Each water heater is on a single DP 30 amp breaker, the Eco 36 requires four 40 amp DP breakers, I have the room in the breaker panel. Can this be accomplished by running both existing hardwires to the 240v tankless unit, or would it require running new wires? Thanks. CHIEF
March 5, 20196 yr Use your best guess and start splicing. If your 1st attempt fails, just try it different.
March 5, 20196 yr Author Finally talked to my electrician, he said it could be done, we could use the old wires to pull the old ones through, but I don't have the space for the extra breakers, and would have to put in a third subpanel. It got way too expensive at that point. CHIEF
