I wish Barry would put a Chechen bullet in all of you talking about fast forwarding through an amazing 25 minute television show.

Rip Torn: the best aggy ever?

I won't hold it against him. He graduated as a Horn.

I watched a bunch of season 1 and 2 over the weekend to get reenergized on the show.  So great.

It's clearly setting up for the rest of the season.

1. the three minute recap is some of the best television i've seen in months.

2. try not to frame me on your way out.

agreed.  was thinking the writing has dropped off, but hopefully they're just building the foundation with some mundane details.

the best line of the show.   i also liked "you have some buddies.  i have no buddies".

I think it was just a typical episode 1 setting up the storylines for the season. HBO sent out screeners of the first 6 episodes and the reviews have been glowing.

i thought it was baddies/barrys.

Knocked out season 1 last night on treadmill then after dinner.  Going to knock out season 2 tonight.

It's "buddies".  Captions ftw.

it was before the episode, at least on hbo.  possible that hbo max didn't include it, no idea.

i'm struggling with some unrealistic aspects of this show.

no way someone like sally is running her own television show, no matter how terrible it looks.

Thought last night's episode was kind of weak, although I found the final scene with Barry and Gene, along with the ending credits, inexplicably gripping.  Getting tired of Sally's narcissism, and her whole story line.  Hopeful that Noho Hank will soon get back to being the completely amoral, ruthless Hank we all know, instead of the happy, content Hank we've seen so far this season.  I think the show would be better served if each episode was one hour instead of 30 minutes as it would be easier to develop characters and story lines.

I don't think "ruthless" would be in the top 50 adjectives I think of when it comes to NoHo Hank.

I love this show and the first two seasons bought a lot of trust and patience with me, but the start of the season has really fallen flat to me.  It feels like the show has been written into a corner with nowhere to go.  The main characters aren't really interacting.  Fuchs is in the middle of nowhere.  Barry and Sally have rarely been in the same place.  Cousineau has spent the bulk of the time in the trunk of the car.  The acting class - where so much humor was mined in the first two seasons - has dissolved.  There just is not a whole lot of interaction happening with the main characters.  There is only so far you can take the Barry holding Cousineau hostage subplot.  Something is going to have to resolve, but it is hard seeing that happen and still having the show able to move forward.  I appreciate the overarching theme of exploring forgiveness has been introduced, and I'm very much hoping the show can pull it all off.

Not gonna lie.  I'm disappointed with this season so far.  There have been a few glimmers of greatness, but overall it feels like they've run out of ideas.

The last episode was boring as shit.  I'd agree they probably don't have a good idea where to take the story.  The threads are all fucked up and not entertaining.

Yeah. I think I am out.

this show revolves around the relationships barry has with 4 people. hank, sally, winkler, fuchs. right now all those relationships are garbage.

that needs to be fixed to make the show watchable.

I watched the first two episodes and have no desire to watch the third episode. It's about as entertaining as watching paint dry. The drama is unappealing, the humor falls flat which makes the characters unlikable.

There have been a couple of good bits this season (Detonator app) but mostly it's been a downer. I want Fuchs to die a moderately slow suffering death.

Much better episode.  And Gene's agent was Fred Melamed (Sy Abelman from A Simple Man), not Tobolowsky.

beat me to it

Holy shit when he FaceTimed the Bolivians hitting the greenhouse. That was great.

First 3 episodes were meh to shit. Last 2 have been pretty solid. Good. Hopefully they’ve found their season 3 footing

I watched the previous seasons. So do I miss anything really meaningful by just skipping to #4 in this one?
