Do you even relativistic mass bro?

Sorry George.

I actually thought 100 was, by definition, set as the median score.  I'm gonna go ahead and guess that even if it's the average, almost exactly 50% of the population falls below 100.

Sorry George.

This is what I get for posting late at night. I meant my original post to say "I00 is the defined mean IQ, not the defined median IQ."

However, you are correct, and I am wrong: 100 is defined as the median IQ score.

I am idoit.  I owe you one.

I don't think anyone here thinks that Australia is real. If not thinking Australia isn't not real, I don't want to be right.

I thought that great southern landmass myth was debunked centuries ago.

Well, can you prove Australia is real, mate?  I saw Crocodile Dundee 2 and you could tell it was a soundstage.

Looks real to me.

Fuck it dude, let’s go bowling

Tomorrow, Donny, is Shabbos, the Jewish day of rest.

I watched last night.  I don't buy the people featured in the doc believing in flat earth.  The main dude was obsessed with all the attention he was getting from it.  I think that's what's driving a lot of them.  There are plenty of simple experiments they could setup to prove the earth was flat, but they obviously can't.  Just like the one featured at the very end.  That's why I don't think many of them really believe it.  Flat earther is more or less just a name they use to say they are conspiracy nuts.

There are a couple of things that are not clear to me:

-If the earth is a disk that’s constantly accelerating at 9.8 m/s^2 (and has been for who knows how long), wouldn’t the disk by now be going at ludicrous speed?

-If the earth is a disk, wouldn’t you if you travel enough in any direction reach the edge?

Logic and reason are all part of the round earth conspiracy.  So are mathematics and astronomy.  Pretty much all smart people are in on it.  The only way to not be fooled is to avoid all books.

I struggle with believing that D-cup nipples dribble island salt water off in a downward motion at 9.8 m/s^2. If anyone wants to give me a free trip to Fiji so I can see it for myself and change my beliefs, I’ll be more than happy to go and report back with tons of pics and videos of my findings.

I think most flat earthers are just contrarians for contrary's sake.  Like so many fringe weirdos.

In so many cases, what started as contrarian has grown into full-blown insane stupidity, a banner waved proudly and with outsized enthusiasm.

The stupid are 1000X more confident in their stupidity than the smart are confident in their intelligence.  That is the theme of this era in history in particular.

Spoiler

Like, let's say a certain congress(woman?) claiming vaccines 100% cause autism?  Sorry, I know this doesn't belong here, but it's a perfect example of your point.

I can understand the possibility of being confused by the celestial geometry, but not believing that there are periods of "midnight sun" at or near both poles?  Yikes.

No they're not

I have a friend of a friend that posts flat earth stuff on facebook.  Some of the stuff is biblical in nature, which I hadn't heard of before.  So after decades of hearing about flat earth stuff, I've just come to the realization that people are doing it as a defense of some religious belief.

Yuri Bezmenov warned everyone that the KGB would be successful.  The truth is right in front of many folks and they will not believe because they have been hoodwinked.

I was on a warship a couple of years ago, and one of the bridge wing watchstanders would swear until he was blue in the face that the earth is flat. Motherfucker's literal job is to spot vessel masts as they appear over the horizon. I guess that's why the Navy decided that he was best suited to stand still outside for hours at a time at 0300.

People just want to be "in" on something "edgy" and against the norm, no matter how stupid.

I'm a little slow, but what's the thought on why the 24 hour sun was what finally convinced him?

Do Flat Earthers think people live on both sides of a disc?  And that the sun rises and sets at the exact same time for half the planet?

It is that and they are upset and aggrieved that there are people smarter than they are.

Anyway, she could keep you warm in Antarctica.

I learned that from Han Solo in Empire Strikes Back.

I thought the Earth was flat, but couldn't be a disc, because how can you banish anything or any one to the "four corners of the Earth."

Skip over the paid promo at the beginning for ear plugs or whatever, he dives into everything from flat earth to vaccines to moon landings.  I found it amusing to send this video to some relatives.

I’ve never been up there, and I’m not bothering to fact check this, but I think the sun would appear to be moving in a circle around you, taking about 24 hours to get back where it started. That would indicate you are on a globe

If you were in a flat surface, the sun would have to disappear at some point

Maybe it’s the sun that’s moving, smart guy. Geocentricity makes as much sense as flat earth.

I've been reading Shel Silverstein poems to my 7 year old and this one came up. He said "that's a lie, the world is round, right?" Good job son, you are correct, it's just a silly poem.
