September 15, 20196 yr PHP's pizza seems pretty mediocre. I went to ABGB last night to see Queue Queue. It was a great show, and they have great food and beer. You can't go wrong
September 19, 20196 yr Going to ABGB tonight for the first time. I'm just not that big on pizza these days, but they look like they have some good sandwiches. Any recommendations? The banh mi, reuben and meatball look good.
September 19, 20196 yr Muffuletta is good too. If they still have the chicken biscuit I posted get that. Edited September 19, 20196 yr by 4th&Five

September 20, 20196 yr So but for the fact that I live north of the river, I’d be on Team ABGB. I like PHP beers a little better, but the food quality at ABGB is superior. And there was a lot of hot box there last night.

September 20, 20196 yr I'm in Austin for a conference this weekend and haven't been to ABGB -- will they have the game on Saturday night, or should I save ABGB for Sunday and find another place to watch the game (like, maybe, the game)?

Hmm . . . don't recall seeing any TVs there last night, but maybe some of the ABGB pros on this thread can correct me.
September 20, 20196 yr If ABGB has TVs, they have very few . . . like one or two. I would try somewhere else. It's on ABC, any place with a few monitors should be showing it.
September 20, 20196 yr They’ll bring down a screen sometimes but I don’t think they do it for UT games. I know St. Elmo shows them and has a $2 beer special during the game if you’re looking for a brewery.
September 20, 20196 yr Thanks, I'll save ABGB for Sunday. I've been wanting to try it for a long time. Like the St. Elmo idea, any other good spots (not necessarily breweries) for game watching around downtown? Dumb OT question, I know, but I'm rarely around those parts these days.
October 1, 20196 yr Somehow just seeing this thread, but for those of you giving the pizza rolls love at PHP, thanks. I may have had a hand in that recipe.

They're really good. So are the salads. For lunch I often get the pizza roll/pinthouse salad combo, and a beer.

Same dough, but it's stretched waaaaay thinner, which makes it cook differently. Then the ratio of cheese to pepperoni is key too. It's actually the recipe I learned at Pizza Classics on Wells Branch back in the day.
October 2, 20196 yr Well, the pizza rolls are about 1000x better than the pizza. Which is just OK. But the pizza rolls are very good. So good job. Internet reputation points to you!
