March 14, 20196 yr I will avoid commercial television if I can, so my top-5 will be HBO/Showtime heavy. I DVR everything so I can push thru commercial TV with very little interruption. AT&T Audience Network runs "Mad Men" and "NYPD Blue" commercial free, or with all the commercials between the end of the episode and the beginning of the next episode. It's great. Non-Commercial Deadwood Downton Abbey Game of Thrones The Larry Sanders Show Shameless Commercial Mad Men The Mary Tyler Moore Show The Shield Survivor The Walking Dead

Golden Age begins with Sopranos and the Wire. i agree. it's similar to the NBA today. yes, the 80's and 90's *were* the golden era of the league, but this new generation of basketball players/TV shows is stuff we've never seen before. Outright groundbreaking shows/athletes. Although I would concede that The West Wing should probably be mentioned in your post but i'm not sure when it got its start compared to Sopranos and The Wire.
