Hostess/reservation setup sucks ass (reviews bear its a staple "feature") - make reservations week/plus in advance... oh, we don't have a table for you now.. delivered with incredible attitude. Get past that though, place is nice inside, table staff is top notch, food we ordered at least was incredible. Would be a great work lunch/dinner place when company paying.

Adding to your list, I would throw Guard and Grace into consideration. I’ve never had a bad meal there and the atmosphere is more contemporary if you’re tired of the typical staid steakhouse.

I haven't been to V&A's in over a decade and will never go again. It's a Fertitta joint and it comes with all of the cheap bullshit that that should imply. Pappa's usually has an active environment and the food and drink quality is reliably great. Palm has a veal parm that rivals Piore's in Vegas as the best I've ever had, if you happen to be in to that at a steakhouse. The environment last time I was there was dead, but that was on Memorial Day's evening. B&B Butcher's is near downtown on Washington. They have some unique dishes and maybe the best pork chop dish in town. They're more unique than the ones you asked about, IMO.

September 5Sep 5 Try something new and different and go to Bungalow. Then drink some whiskey at Houston Watch Company.
September 8Sep 8 Update - we pivoted completely and ended up at Aiko. Excellent meal. How do you guys compare it to the other upscale sushi joints in town?

September 9Sep 9 Went to Crudo e Cotto on Friday (Mid Ln) after seeing it pop up on my IG feed. Authentic Italian sammiches, pizzas and pastas. got two pizzas for the kids (good), 2 pastas (vodka and carbonara) both good 7-8/10. The real stunner was the mortadella sandwich (I got it without zucchini because I hate that shit) but holy fuck was that amazing. Instantly a top 3 Houston sandwich for me (#1 being the French House ham & Swiss on French bread, and #2 being an OG Regular at the two Antone’s spin offs near the med center).

It’s been on my radar for a couple of weeks. I need to get over there for lunch in the near future. In other news, Chopnblok made the New York Times 50 best restaurants in the country list. I love that place.

It wasn't my cup of tea (but the deserts and mexican coffee were amazing). I guess I'm not much a mole man, but I had a little bit of everything; lamb chops, fish of the day, the steak, the lobster tail tacos, the ceviche, and some ants. Pretty much everything but the grasshoppers. Not really sure the overwhelming popularity and appeal my Houston people speak of this place about, but knock yourself out H-town.

Not $$$$ like say Bar Bludorn, but also something better than Chilis There’s a speakeasy in Credance. Ciro’s is next door if you want something cheaper for dinner. Ciro’s bar is 65 and up/God’s waiting room. Bar and dining room at Haywire are pretty nice. Plenty of dinner options in the $20-25 range.
Tuesday at 06:39 PM1 day Jonathan's the Rub on Memorial is always really good. There a new place called The Henry that I have not been to but might fit the bill. Union Kitchen is fine and probably easy to get a reservation. Nothing special but usually decent. Service is typically friendly but a little slow but if you aren't in a hurry it's fine.Churrascos is old school but still has good food.
