Are they emptying out tanks and dumping it in the ship channel to avoid this spreading?  Kind of looks like it from he CH2 feed but I am an idiot so it could be Mr. Bubble for all I know.

Saw that earlier and they were dumping something. They had some booms to try and keep it in the area, but who knows what's flowing into the bay. Hopefully they don't screw it up.

Press conference.  Nothing to see folks, just wash off any debris that may fall, and the air is fine.

Melt sugar in a double boiler and add ashes. Pour the mixture into a candle mold and let cool. No wick needed.

Has anyone seen a map of where the tanks are? Trying to locate exactly which ones on google earth

Judging by the pictures the ship channel is currently filling up with foam and chemicals and not a boom or oil spill recovery vessel in sight

what the fuck.

I understand containing the fire is priority number one, but they can also be doing some spill containment at the same time!

I’m curious what air monitors they’ve run and for how long. For all we know they ran a ToxiRAE through a neighborhood at 35 mph and got 0.5 ppm and are using that as validation that everything is fine.

People referencing TCEQ are not going to receive anything useful.

Alex, I'll take 'How badly did Exxon fuck up the Valdez spill for a $100'.

ITC just following their lead.

Where did you hear that?

Lulz. People are going into google and giving ITC bad reviews. Which one of you is Scott Stygar? One star review “Worst smoked brisket ever. Tasted like tailpipe juice.”

I'd imagine that company that rents out rain has had it tough since August 2017.

Why rent when you can buy?

Was working on a case involving a facility next door to ITC. I'm going to bet that meeting later this week doesn't happen - I'd guess they are worried about ITC completely blowing up. Crazy stuff.

Grew up in Deer Park. This is one of the bad ones. Been a while since one this bad. I’m amazed no one was killed.

Are you implying that it is currently not bad?

How has art Acevedo not been front and center during all this. Is he on vacation or something?

Not his jurisdiction.   Instead we have the wholely unqualified and rather juvenile looking and sounding new Harris County Judge running the response instead of Ed Emmet because a bunch of fucking inbred mouthbreathers votted straight ticket last go round.    Ya'll better hope she has some really good help around her.  Hell, if she was smart, she has Ed on speed dial.

For those unaware, she's a whole 28-years old with a fresh Political Science degree (at least it is from Stanford, so there's hope.)   Work experience consists of training journalists in Thailand, being an interpreter at the Med Center, and running for office.

You can add being Harris County Judge to her work experience.

And we we were pretty much all aware - it was hashed over on the CR, over and over and over.

4 months on the job and now this.  Pretty rough way to settle into the job.

She will  most likely have little to do with the actual response to the catastrophe (ie. she's not going to fight the fire herself) but what a mess to have happen.

why would the general public be allowed to get that close to this mess?  Or, is that an emergency vehicle?

Probably a plant worker. Tons of plants on that street that need to have at least a Skelton crew on hand.

If those other plants are forced to evacuate. Things will get form bad to doomsday

It is from City of Deer Park's public snapchat.  Not a rando

Since Hwy 225 is at least 1.7 miles away and at a higher elevation, I'll be mighty impressed if burning runoff discovers how to flow uphill....
