It looked like the seams on that ball were coming undone off the bat. jonathan davis was probably thinking, "this ball is falling away from me" before he made that spectacular catch. playing CF like that is so badass. he's got the life.

Javy is easily our best/most exciting defensive player, but Almora is easily no.2. he's super legit in CF. probably the best defensive CF we've had in my lifetime, and we did have Corey Patterson for a spell.

May 30, 20196 yr I’ll never understand people that can’t protect themselves or won’t be paying attention sitting in certain areas of the park. Obviously I know basically nothing about this particular incident, but in general. I at least hope the dad had thought about this and sat between her and the action so he at least had a chance to stop a ball, even if it didn’t work out this time.

May 30, 20196 yr Yeah, no offense, but that's ignorant. And I have been on the field level and balls can get on you quick. Not sure they can perform hand-eye tests for each fan prior to sitting down.

May 30, 20196 yr Having physical criteria/reaction criteria dictating who sits where is stupid when it can be solved with netting.

Certain parts of the park, it doesn't matter how attentive you are, those balls can get up on you quickly. My uncle used to have season tickets right behind the 1st base dugout at the Texas Rangers and I have sat there quite a few times. Even paying attention the whole time, my uncle had to save us a few times with his glove he used to bring as well as a few others in that section. Some people don't realize how fast those balls are coming off the bat into the stands. I prefer not to sit in those seats anymore. Great view but it's not relaxing for me any longer. I think there's a net that runs down that portion of the park now, though.
May 30, 20196 yr No, I’m asking the patrons to realize the assumed risk isn’t the same for every seat, and sit accordingly. Accidents will still happen. That they don’t happen more often might be proof that people already consider it, or that it’s not as big a deal as I think it is,
May 30, 20196 yr My favorite piece of classical music: Got chills (maybe a small tear) hearing that...haven’t heard that in ~30 years but vividly remember watching TWIB as a kid on Saturday mornings.
May 30, 20196 yr Real Sports did a piece on foul ball injuries a few years back. it showed that paying attention isn't really enough. i can't find the whole segment but the trailer gives you an idea. Edited May 30, 20196 yr by TonyTexas

May 31, 20196 yr Put up nets. I don't need kids or anyone getting their heads blown up or dying. Fix it. Those balls are coming in at 100mph. Put up nets.
May 31, 20196 yr Ryu quietly putting together an All-Star season. And potentially Cy Young, albeit very early.

June 1, 20196 yr They still teach making the out going back to the starting base? make that throw earlier and try to get the out going back to third.
