Dodgers Fan On Life Support After Man Attacks Him In Stadium Parking Lot

Quote

Rafael Reyna, a 47-year-old Dodgers fan, is on life support with a fractured skull and other head injuries after he was attacked in the parking lot of Dodger Stadium sometime after Friday’s game against the Diamondbacks. Cops say Reyna was punched in the head by another man and fell to the concrete.

According to Christel Reyna, Rafael’s wife, she was on the phone with her husband as he made his way through the parking lot when a man started cursing at him over an incident with a woman. Shortly after Rafael told his wife he had no idea what that person was talking about, she heard something that sounded like the crack of a bat, which she now knows was his head hitting the ground of the parking lot.

The Dodgers released the following statement to ESPN:

“Last night, an altercation occurred suddenly between two men who were leaving the stadium,” the Dodgers said in a statement Saturday. “One of the men was injured as a result of the altercation. A witness immediately reported the incident to stadium personnel, and emergency medical technicians were promptly dispatched to provide medical assistance at the scene. The matter is now being investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department, and the Dodgers are cooperating fully with the investigation.”

Police have not made any arrests as of writing this post.

This incident comes just under nine years after Giants fan Bryan Stow was also brutally beaten outside Dodger Stadium and placed in a medically-induced coma to treat his injuries. He survived the attack but ended up suffering severe brain damage. Once that attack made national headlines, the Dodgers supposedly made a commitment to improve stadium security to try and prevent these kinds of things from happening and had to split an $18 million judgment with Louie Sanchez and Marvin Norwood, Stow’s attackers.

Fortunately for Helobious, Giancarlo has been DL’d (not IL) with a biceps strain. He’ll have to get mad at someone else for awhile.

It’s between Gardner & Sanchez right now. Whoever fucks up first tonight.

Wainwright seems like he sucks

To be fair, it's 36 degrees there, so he probably can't feel his fingers, or the ball.

This StL/Pitt game won’t help the pace of play arguments. 4 hours, tied in bot 9 now.

What temperature is it when archer is pitching?

I don't know, but he has been the only one of the 15 or so pitchers in this never-ending shitshow of a game that has been able to throw strikes consistently.

It's borderline unwatchable.

Matt Carpenter just got tossed and now someone like Wieters or Yadi is going to have to play 3B.

That is an extremely fitting way for one team to take the lead. Already knocked out one blue.

Is this Kyle Peterson doing color for CHW/Cle? Sure sounds like him, don’t think I’ve ever heard him do MLB.

My lone goal for CWS this season is to call up their Cuban SS so they can field a Yonder/Yolmer/Yolbert/Yoan IF around the horn.

And the Cubs’ LF continues the theme for today.

Speaking of shitty LF, Matt Kemp is attempting to play the position today

I tried, but had to give up when the home plate ump got dinged and the replacement had to get suited up.  That did it for me.

The replacement got drilled in the cup on the winning run.

Orioles just pulled their pitcher he was pitching a no no

Saw that on MLB network. Unbelievable. God forbid you give your fans- never mind your pitcher- a shot at something memorable in what will be a disaster of a season. Nope, you passed the pitch count so robot manager says you’re done.

He threw 42 pitches on Thursday and it’s 4 games into the season. I don’t have any issue with the O’s manager pulling him

Get the no-hitter, blow out your arm.
Come back in 2021 when your team will have a much better shot at thinking about sniffing a wild card.

But no, no... let’s make sure to save the guy so he’s healthy and can make his ~25th start on September 1 when the team is already at the 100 loss mark.

Kevin Pillar traded to the Giants

Bargain.

Passan added they have two options at $17 million a year so the deal could be 10 for $124 which is insane value for the Braves potentially.

Interesting how some teams are now choosing to use club controlled years as leverage for buying some FA years, instead of riding players near minimums thru arbitration.  Feels like this is becoming more common.

Either the Giants just traded for Kevin Pillar, or he was simply sucked into the vortex that brings all over-30, no-hit outfielders to San Francisco.

Paul Goldschmidt will have a better year than Luke Voit. Change my mind.

He will win NL MVP.

Might as well redirect the manager salary to investment in some super duper computer AI R&D to manage the team.
