January 11, 20205 yr Kansas State’s flight to Austin got canceled tonight due to ice. Maybe we can pick up a forfeit.
January 15, 20205 yr Author as of today, the Big XII owns 3 of the top 4 defenses in the country, and 4 of the top 10. Texas is currently 7th in the league in AdjD. Gonna be a long conference season with our offense against these defenses.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

January 18, 20205 yr Author here's a video i took last year when Baker and KJ Adams' Westlake team played Austin High. Notice the difference in impact/talent between the sophomore Adams and the HS All American senior Will Baker:
January 31, 20205 yr 3-4 in conf is probably about the best this team could hope for at this point. next 5 game stretch ISU, KU, TT, rapists, ISU. 1-4 probable, 2-3 possible, 3-2 no chance if they go 2-3 they have an outside shot of ending up 8-10. but I'm still sticking with 6 wins being the most likely result.
February 2, 20205 yr Seems like every year we fix something only for another thing that we previously did well suddenly going to hell. Last year we fixed the offense and our defense went to crap. This year we seemingly shoot 3s decently and suddenly we turn the ball over at a rate worse than Shaka's 2nd year when we didn't even have a point guard. As it stands now we lead the league in 3pt% (conference games only) at 37.1%. The only thing that has remained consistent during Shaka's tenure is the inability to rebound for shit. Shaka will have the team prepared despite Sims's absence. Baker and Brock are gonna make it rain. 'Horns have a good chance of hitting 100.

February 15, 20205 yr Author we're no.85 now here's Shaka's work over the last 4 years: and remember, Shaka signed three consecutive top 10 nationally ranked recruiting classes during this time (no.'s 6, 6, and 8 overall, respectively). god damn what an unimaginably bad hire this was. February 15, 20205 yr Is there a coach in men’s college athletics with lower-T than Shaka Smart? Horns have played the same flaccid, clueless basketball for 4 straight years.
February 16, 20205 yr Author LMAO, Wescott Eberts STILL can't accept that Shaka is just a piss poor coach at this level. What a clown.yeah, the roster from five years ago is responsible for why Texas sucks today. [emoji849] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

February 16, 20205 yr westcott meepberts should definitely stop trying to talk about Texas basketball maybe Shaka's next fan base will deserve the two of them more than this one does

February 16, 20205 yr With a name like Eberts.... just review foreign films and SHUT THE HELL UP ABOUT POOR SHAKA!!!! Hey Eberts... Edited February 16, 20205 yr by LTtxfan
February 16, 20205 yr aha! I have figured it out. CDC didn't say top 10. It was a typo. He requires top 100. The reporters simply missed the additional 0. We are #83 right now, and on a pace to possibly hit the top 100! All depends upon how well we shoot threes against the mighty horned frogs. If we lose to TCU, we might lose out and end up more like #120, I think.
February 19, 20205 yr How does Shaka take advantage of redshirts at Texas?? Watching Baylor beat blOU tonight, they mentioned that Baylor redshirts quite a few players... I think the announcer said 8 players on their current roster have redshirted. He also mentioned that Gonzaga redshirts a lot of players as well. Anyone have more details on this?? Found this article on redshirts at Villanova... https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/colleges/with-six-redshirt-players-villanova-basketball-is-more-plus-one-than-one-and-done/2017/12/19/6c1e7cdc-df76-11e7-89e8-edec16379010_story.html
February 19, 20205 yr 2 of his 3 "redshirts" were transfers who had to sit out their transfer years (Osetkowski & Mitrou-Long). The other redshirt is Cunningham, who many don't and didn't view as a high major prospect. Baylor's Matthew Mayer played on the same high school team as both Cunningham and Baker and looks to be a much better prospect than the both of them.
February 19, 20205 yr Author dude is haplessly out of his league when it comes to assembling and then optimally utilizing a roster. it's a glaring flaw of his. maybe his biggest flaw of all, and the dude has plenty. Edited February 19, 20205 yr by Goo Punch

He does have a habit of overstocking his roster with tall guards who can't shoot or dribble and big men who want to play guard and want nothing to do with physical play inside. We have been pretty shallow at PG and C/PF during his tenure.

February 21, 20205 yr We are about to lose 4 straight games lol Maybe 5 straigt if OSU is clicking...
February 21, 20205 yr We moved up! ...to 80 in Kenpom, just in front of SMU. Five losses in a row to end the season, plus a loss in the conference tourney puts us at about #150, I would think. Would we be on the bubble for the NIT? I think so. CBI, I think they might invite us. 1-9 over the last 10 games. Wow!

February 29, 20205 yr Author x/post I hate to say it, but to this point losing Febres has been addition by subtraction. Relatedly, Sims getting injured has been serendipitous for Shaka, forcing him to give PT to his young guys who it turns are actually ready to produce if given the chance.

March 2, 20205 yr TEXAS vs blOU seems like a play-in game to stay on the Bubble for NCAA Tourney... https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/28577356/ncaa-tournament-bubble-watch-updated-look-wildest-bubble-years#Big12 Still not that sure about West Va should be a Lock?? From ESPN Article: Big 12 Locks: Baylor, Kansas, West Virginia B12 Should be in: Texas Tech Red Raiders Suddenly Texas Tech has lost two straight, and this formerly formidable offense is no longer scoring points. The Red Raiders' projected seed has dropped to a spot on the No. 8 line as Chris Beard's men have put just 109 points on the board over 130 possessions in losses at Oklahoma and at home against Texas. In those 80 minutes, Texas Tech converted less than 38% of its 2-point attempts, and Red Raider second chances became vanishingly rare. A visit to Baylor is next on the agenda, and that doesn't seem likely to cure what ails a struggling offense. B12 Work to do: blOU and TEXAS Oklahoma Sooners Lon Kruger's team has effectively turned its profile around over the past two games. With wins at home over Texas Tech and on the road at West Virginia, the Sooners have gone from a team that was trending its way out of the tournament field to one that, at 18-11, looks to be in good shape. Oklahoma was projected as a No. 11 seed in advance of its game against the Mountaineers, and the team's top-50 NET ranking will now climb a bit higher. The Sooners will host Texas and then close the season at TCU, and OU is entering that closing stretch in far better shape than the Watch could have imagined just a week ago. Texas Longhorns Texas is not in the projected field yet, but no team -- not UCLA, not Providence, not Arizona State, no team -- has recorded a more dramatic and, yes, surprising rise to bubble status than the Longhorns. Shaka Smart is down to a handful of healthy players, and starters Jericho Sims and Jase Febres are still sidelined with injuries, none of which has prevented UT from winning four in a row and capping off that run with a profile-altering 68-58 victory at Texas Tech. The win in Lubbock, which will improve a NET ranking that was in the 60s, takes its place alongside ones at Purdue and at home against West Virginia as the highlights of an 18-11 season so far. With games at Oklahoma and at home against Oklahoma State remaining, Texas is on the cusp of playing its way into the field.
March 2, 20205 yr Author was just coming here to talk about AJ. pretty unbelievable how well he's playing considering he still looks like a shell of his former self. for those who don't remember, this is what AJ looked like in 2017:This is supposed to be in the NBA right now, and was on track to be a first round pick, and possibly even a lottery pick before the leukemia derailed his life and career. he should be the biggest story in college hoops, he really should. unfortunately for him he has one of the worst coaches in major college basketball, and his team isn't good enough for him to get the recognition he deserves. i'd love nothing more than for us to get a new coach and have a real special year next season, led by AJ. He deserves it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
March 3, 20205 yr Author lmao, "remarkable" four game win streak. Wescott Eberts is the biggest choad in the UT blogosphere, and his knowledge of hoops matches my ability to be concise. fuck him.
