for $20 the moonshine cfs is a great deal. if you split it with someone they'll put it on 2 plates and i usually can't even finish the half portion.

I butterflied a filet, smoked it for an hour, pounded it to ~1/4” and then chicken fried it. Sweet baby Jesus it was good

Junior and I ventured over to the Ozarks east of Tahlequah for some smallmouth bass fishing. This unseasonably cool weather unfortunately turned the fish off and we only caught a couple of small fish.

Let’s get this back on track … Double mashed potatoes and milk gravy without any “medley” of inappropriate vegetables. Richter’s Antler Cafe in Spring Branch.

I figure everyone living in Austin on this board must have had the Moonshine CFS by now, by your post reads like it might have been a first. We stay near there for games in the fall and wind up going to Moonshine 2-3 times a year because of it. I think their CFS is one of the best you can find anywhere.

Yup, first time.  I haven't been there in close to 20 years and I can't remember what I had then, but it wasn't CFS.

Was your husband able to finish his half?

Junior and I ventured over to the Ozarks east of Tahlequah for some smallmouth bass fishing. This unseasonably cool weather unfortunately turned the fish off and we only caught a couple of small fish. We made up for it by swinging by the only Del Rancho in Eastern Oklahoma in Tahlequah. So dang good and CFS dinner with two sides for $13.01 (.01 LOL).

I recently did the Mel's vs. Goodsons challenge.  Both delicious, but I give the edge to Mel's.

Breading was better. Breading to meat ratio was slightly better. Meat quality slightly better too.

Did round 2 at Moonshine a week or so ago.  That is some tasty CFS, and the jalapeno gravy puts it over the top.  Highly recommended.

A  shit ton of Raider fans poured in.   I prepared a toast  but the wife shot me down.  What's wrong with toasting" ladies and gentlemen, please raise your mugs and salute The University of Texas at Austin, without them we would not be playing in our game tomorrow. Salud! 🍻

good BBQ doesn't need sauce, good CFS doesn't need gravy.  that being said it is on the side since this was a to-go order and it would have been a little messy on the drive back to the office

I dunno, man.  I won't argue about BBQ, of course, but even the best CFS is inherently a bit dry.  And the flavors tend not to be as subtle as a fine smoked brisket or other cut.

at this place I actually prefer their brown gravy when they have it.   they do smothered pork chops in brown gravy one day a week.  today is fried shrimp, frog legs, and gator tails.

Honestly, most thing with cream gravy exist solely to be a cream gravy delivery system.

First - no. Like, fuck no. But you're entitled to your opinon.

Second - brown on the potatoes, cream on the cfs is my go-to anywhere it's an option. Like Lucky's in Dallas. Fuck I miss that place.

Had the cfs at Mac’s B&G in Arlington tonight was really good and we loved the gravy. The complimentary bread/butter was also good and cool looking place inside.

Me, too, but I probably eat breakfast here too often. The waitresses knoe exactly when they saw me last, and seemed relieved when I walk back in after an extended absence.

Me, soon..

Hell, yeah. My wife and I have overnighted in Vernal, Utah several times driving to or from seeing our daughter in Oregon. There's a restaurant there that has a nice breakfast buffet with lots of local traffic, so the food on the line is fresh and hot. The first time there we saw a group of "experienced gentlemen" having breakfast together, looking very similar to that picture. The next time we were through, we stopped in there again but before the guys got there. One of the waitresses was putting out their personal coffee cups at their usual seats when one of the guys walks in and sits down. "You can put Jim and Bill's cups back. Jim is in Denver to see his new grandson, and Bill is in the hospital." Followed by a discussion of why Bill was in the hospital (farm accident), how bad it was (not too bad; a few stitches and observation), did the waitress need to check in on Deb (Bill's wife), and well, you know the rest of the conversation. It was the homiest, neatest thing I've seen in a long time. I wish that I had a group like that.
