GRRM won the long game because now non-book fags will also buy books 6-8 to see a better ending than tv.

“You will never wed the prince, you will wed the king.… You will be queen, for a time. Then comes another — younger, more beautiful — to cast you down and take all you hold dear.… The king will have 20 children, and you will have three. Gold will be their crowns, gold their shrouds.

And the Illiterati... shall read!

This show is dumb now. Used to be when characters did dumb shit they died for it. Now the heroes constantly do dumb shit and get their army fucked up, then by next episode they have an army again an

I finally finished, had work and stuff that kept me from getting caught up.

It certainly fits with GRRMs original title of "A time for wolves", and his assertion that there wouldn't be a happy ending.  But jesusshitdicks, the writing fucking sucked.  I even thought the acting performances from some of the weaker actors were better than previous seasons, but that wasn't enough.

So, do you guys think Bran built a new throne or does Pod just wheel him to the spot where the throne was and he just chills there in the chair?

Not sure where to put this

Once the thundering applause died down, Martin gave a more nuanced answer in which he said he envied authors who self-publish their books and thus don't have to worry about deadlines, but ultimately said he "would've loved to have had it finished many years ago ... that's the big thing I think I would change."

Not like he's been worrying about deadlines anyway.

I remember liking A Feast for Crows the best of the 5 finished books. A Dance with Dragons is a mess, and set up GRRM for failure in The Winds of Winter. I believe he’s previously stated that Winter is twice as long as Dragons. So north of 2000 pages.

I don’t think there’s any way to unfuck it without a time machine. Bantam Books should have given him 3 years to finish Winter and then forced an editor on him. Hindsight is 20/20 of course.

I’ve already resigned myself to the series getting “finished” posthumously.

I hope he punts on Winter and A Dream of Spring and writes a comprehensive history of The Starks as his final gift to the world.

To each his own I guess, but I thought it was the worst of the 5.

I told someone recently that my favorite book ever was A Storm of Swords
