What say you

SA, ese.

San Antonio /SA Native

I lived ther for 10 years and nobody from San Antonio calls it San Antone.  I learned that quickly when I first moved there.

Unless you're a fucking hick white guy or a country musician trying to play on the "Antone" rhyme it's San Antonio.

San Antone is only acceptable to make a rhyme in a good song.  Otherwise it deserves a kick to the shins and or groin, and 2 demerits on your Texan card.

Depends on the song I’m singing along to on my iTunes playlist.

Both.

Charlie Pride, The Doobie Brothers and George Strait can say "San Antone" and that's really about it.

I was listening to Charlie Palillo the other day, and he mentioned this topic. Said it’s just as bad as when you call San Francisco “Frisco”. I never knew it was that offensive to San Antonians.

No Bob Wills?

Well, yes since Bob Will is still the King!

Mexoplex. That's what my San Antonio fiends always called it.

How many of you people laying down the law about this call Guadalupe "Guadaloop"?  Really grinds my gears.

That got cleared up in the 90s in The Chronicle. Dates back to Spain where it came from Arabic Wadi-l-hub, Valley of Luvvvv. If you pronounce it like proper Spanish, it means you hate Arabs.

Did you learn that from your Aunti Lucia?

Oh, you Madrid.

I think I have said it like that less than 5 times in my life. It’s either Guadalupe (English or Spanish pronunciation)/ the drag. Depends on context and audience.

Grandma born, raised, lived and died there.

She always said San Antone-ya.

Of course she’d get pico de gallo mixed up with Cinco de Mayo.  She was kooky.

No pics, weirdos.

Unless you are older than 60 and singing a country song, it’s San Antonio.

Off topic here but are they still a thing? I moved to Portland 5 years ago and have since forgot about them. Don’t miss those retards either. Hum. Listen to the horn on internet always though.

It's not offensive, just an indicator that a person has never lived in SA

You missed them enough to comment about them, though? 25+ years and still broadcasting says they probably don't miss you.
