Worse case you will glad you did it earlier rather than later. It's a no lose situation and you get propofol (make sure you are getting propofol).....

Two very small polyps were removed (same as at 52) so I’m guessing I’m good for another 10 years. I’m waiting on the follow up. Had propofal and it was nice but not as nice as the first time. Prep is the only unpleasant part.
September 19, 20241 yr It’s getting very difficult to keep up with daily life.Well you've been up for 3 hours already. Why not done?

September 19, 20241 yr Sigh. Some buddies and I took my old man out for a birthday dinner last night at a brazilian steakhouse. Salad bar, all the meats, delicious, great time had by all. Got to my dad's place to drop him off....had to drop a deuce. Went home to watch the rest of the Austin FC match...had to hit the shitter three times. Went to bed. Woke up at 2:30, cramping like hell, on the shitter on and off for 40 minutes. Goddammit, I'm just too old to eat like that (I just don't eat platters full of red meat these days). Body can't handle it.

September 22, 20241 yr IDKWTF happened but I woke up yesterday and my left calf hurt like a MF. It's not a cramp, more like I pulled a muscle. I haven't done anything to strain it. Can barely bend my ankle before my calf is screaming. Right leg is just fine.

Sounds like a deep vein thrombosis (DVT), or a blood clot. If that's what it is, you don't want part of it breaking off and going elsewhere in your system like your lung (pulmonary embolism) or your brain (stroke).

While it does need to be checked out, there is almost no detail that suggests this is a DVT over something else. Unless you have some Internet prognostic skills then there’s a lot more history that needs to be discussed before you start throwing out diagnosis like that.
September 22, 20241 yr I’ve probably posted this two or three times over the last several years and on the other site as well, there’s no need to despair about your 60’s and 70’s. Stay fit, lose weight (if needed) and be active and the golden years can be awesome. Read Younger Next Year. It’s a book by a retired NY lawyer and his internist about staying fit into your 80’s. Eat right, exercise and your 60’s and 70’s can be fabulous. Then again, there’s a reason that life expectancy is still mid 70’s.

September 25, 20241 yr Turned 50. I'm single without kids. Suffering from severe sleep apnea so who knows how long I have. I've got a CPAP and undergoing therapy. My dog may have 3 good years left. I'm thinking about cashing out and hitting the road. Sitting around feels like I'm already dead.

I understand where you're coming from but check the midlife crisis thread first. The 50's hit hard and I think it's the first time you realize you won't live forever. That being said, hitting the road and seeing the country would be a blast. I wanted to do it before I got married and never did. On the apnea thing.....I have it but couldn't handle the machine. I tried 4 different mask and couldn't sleep with any of them. I ended up getting an adjustable frame bed. Just a slight elevation for my head stopped all the snoring related to apnea and I usually wake up feeling pretty good. Something about repositioning the tissue that causes the apnea.

Pretty sweet machine that connects to the dr office so they can make adjustments remotely.
September 25, 20241 yr I don’t know your personal situation, but man 50, single, with even a little bit of scratch should be able to equal an awesome life.Don’t fall for the oh woe is me I’m getting old and won’t live forever bullshit. So what. Tell yourself a better story and go be awesome and do whatever (and whomever) the fuck you want to do. Yea your gonna have shit to deal with you haven’t before. So what. As one random example, I learned how to sing at 50 and have been playing regular paid music gigs for 4 years now. I bought a boat. I’m having way more fun in my 50s than I ever thought I would.Point is, life doesn’t end at 50. In a lot of cases that’s when it really just starts getting good.Go kick the world’s ass.
September 25, 20241 yr Great advice. I think it's the being alone part that's starting to get to me. I am VERY careful getting out of the shower because I know if I fall I'm fucked. I put my phone on the floor just in case.
