September 5, 20196 yr Need another cat 5 to take all of the trash to sea Problem is how does a Cat 5 hit Oklahoma, but bypass God's people in Texas?Lol this reminds me of a girl who posted on a local car board i used to frequent back when Katrina made landfall"I was talking about katrina with my boyfriend and his parents..we were wondering if Katrina made its way up the Mississippi and into Minnesota...is this something we need to plan for?"
September 5, 20196 yr SIAP, but if current models hold true, we may be getting on-scene reports from Frankie in a Cat 1 hurricane. Hopefully Frankie will be along shortly to allay my concerns.

September 5, 20196 yr Stupid question alert. So the other day when it was category 5...channels were saying its the strongest storm on earth. What kinda storm was going to be stronger on this planet if it wasnt a cat 5 hurricane?Or was that just a info piece to hype up the storm if it made US landfall?

September 5, 20196 yr Bummer. A guy just posted this pic of his Catalina 36 in the Bahamas on our Catalina 36 FB group page.
September 5, 20196 yr With the right insurance, that'll buff right out. Spent many days and nights in the GOM on a boat that Ike parked on the causeway, never had a problem.
September 6, 20196 yr Getting pretty big blasts right now, but not a lot sustained. Lost power an hour ago.
September 6, 20196 yr where will the million tons of debris go? Where are the bulldozers and flatbeds to pick it up?

Speaking of which, this is the major insurance companies today: Especially after seeing the horrors in the Bahamas, they've got to be ecstatic that Dorian's path kept it from probably being the most expensive U.S. single natural disaster ever. Which it certainly was on the cusp of being.

September 6, 20196 yr The Bahamas landscape carnage looks more like Hiroshima than your average category-insane hurricane carnage. The death toll will no doubt skyrocket.
September 9, 20196 yr Things not looking good. The Bahamas won't recover from this storm for a LONG LONG time.
September 9, 20196 yr Maybe it's too early to call bullshit, but if we go another week and the death toll is still low, call it. News crew walked around a small area for 45 minutes and counted 6 dead.

September 11, 20196 yr Hurricane Dorian: Bahamas lists 2,500 people as missing Bahamas emergency services have listed 2,500 people as missing after Hurricane Dorian struck the islands last week. This official count suggests the death toll will be much higher than the current 50, though the number of missing has yet to be checked against those in shelters and should fall. Tens of thousands of people remain in need of aid. Dorian equalled the highest winds ever recorded for a hurricane at landfall when it struck the Abaco Islands. Large areas were devastated on the Abacos and on Grand Bahama. Hurricane Dorian: Path of destruction Who is helping the survivors? In pictures: How Dorian devastated the Bahamas The list was announced by Carl Smith, a spokesman for the country's National Emergency Management Agency (Nema). "At this point there are approximately 2,500 on the Bahamian government register," Mr Smith said at a press conference. "This list has not yet been checked against government records of who is staying in shelters or who have been evacuated," he said. The number is likely to fall as the cross-checking is carried out. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-49666942
September 12, 20196 yr Sorry to cut in on the ongoing tragedy with Bahaman citizens and their plight, but is the depression heading for Florida something to monitor or is Texas ok? Got some working travel plans next week but I don't want to get in the way if people need to leave the Gulf area and will reschedule if necessary.
