  • It's amazing to think that the most severe flooding seems to have happened after hundreds of thousands of new homes, and thousands of new roads were built on the north end of a waterflow basin.

Ugh, checking in from Miami. The madness has begun. Really waiting for the 11am tomorrow to determine how hard I have to prepare, and to see if I need to go down to my folk's place in key largo.

Im In Port Charltotte now, getting out tomorrow though.

Started mobilizing our Catastrophe team for the insurance companies to head to okochobee to set up. Should be flying out Sunday to Miami or Orlando and then heading there. Told my boss I'd go if only I can fly back to Austin for the LSU game. So lets see

I'm headed to Tampa on Tuesday.  Same question.

Just watch the storm path.  The storm should be through by Tuesday unless the forecast slows down again.  If the place you're staying is 70+ miles from the path of the eye it will probably be business as usual.  (other than squally weather) Hotels will be booked up fast though.

Ah shit. Team Surly Florida checking in here.

Need to keep that thing out of the GOM.

Latest from the NHC.  Some models (HWRF) are calling for it to possibly be a Cat 5.

And the GFS "spaghetti" models are really worst case scenario for Florida.

Yeah those bottom ones are nice right. You get greater Miami, all the keys, then fuck you New Orleans.

Yeah the ensemble data has it turning north after FL, just a matter of how far west it gets. It getting back over the Gulf is definitely something everyone should be rooting against.

Fuuckk that's headed right towards Melbourne. That city is my family's adopted winter getaway. Weve been going there almost every year for nearly 2 decades. Gtfo Dorian

With this thing moving South, guess I’m going to fly down this weekend and make sure everything is buttoned up at the house and get back out before it cranks up. I was planning on going in two weeks and making sure everything was clear after renovations were complete, but it is what it is. Should be good on the West Coast, but we left things out that probably need to be put up and/or locked down.

Very humble.

Nah, he's poor, otherwise he'd have his manservant go and take care of everything, and ride the storm out in the house to make sure there's no looters or anything.

Manservant was busy on holiday weekend. We’re moving at some point once renovations get finished on older house that needed updating. Timing sucks because contractor was long since supposed to be done, but everything moves slow.

Brew - where are you on the west coast?

They're saying strong winds should start Saturday evening, I dont know what that looks like for flying down there this weekend.  Flying in shouldn't be a problem,  flying out, dont know. Something to consider

Had to be on Jax tonight for the game to meet some clients, so heading down after it and back out Saturday before it starts.

This is the guy I follow...even though he's a nole

Models are struggling with this one.  Don't trust just one model or take some random self-styled expert's opinion.

Edit: Post above me... yup

If you're planning on coming down and boarding up windows or need any type of supplies, you should probably reconsider.  My experience is that you'll spend 8 hours in line and get 1 piece of plywood that late in the game.  You'll just be adding an extra person to an already stressed system.

You let your manservant take weekends and holidays off?

so this is setting up to track into the Gulf and hit the Houston area just in time for the drive to Austin for LSU game?

if only we could redirect the hurricane towards Brazil

People in FLA saying GO TABD.  People in TX and LA saying FUCK TABS.  People in NC...well, who knows if they can read.

Has TAB* ever proven to be remotely accurate? I feel like every one of these deals the TAB* models are just there because they need more lines. They are always the most random and farthest from the average.

Florida getting it, who knows where it goes from there. That's what I have so far... that's hours of twitter research. Tomorrow is the big reveal.

That would be something right there. Almost looks like "Hurricane Dorian...sponsored by the Destin Chamber of Commerce".
