July 4, 20196 yr Saw this picture for the first time yesterday. Dad, who is bottom right (66), didn’t want it out of the frame because it was newspaper stuck to glass, so I have two with excuses sent for the bad glare/picture. Picture from the Beaumont Enterprise - Fall of 1960, of players from SE Texas and SW Louisiana playing for the Longhorns, as new Freshmen.
July 4, 20196 yr Missed it by a couple of days (I was on vacation w/ family), but here is my Dad. After four years of never playing an offense/defense snap during a game, in order to “letter,” until the winding minutes of the game vs Navy. He played on ST, but it took an offensive/defensive snap to “letter” back then, so what a thrill it was for him when Coach Royal sent him in during the last couple of minutes versus Navy.
July 5, 20196 yr Jim Achilles (1970 champions; first row of players, near the center): Tyson Cutrer (ILB on the 1995 team, channeling his inner Tom Herman): Walk-On OL Andrew Carroll:

I remember Tennessee had to get special jerseys for that game because they only wore orange jerseys home and away and did not have white.
