The 200 sections seems like the best seats, alot of the 100s are obstructed view, like mine lol. If you're prone to motion sickness, bring a relief band or some Dramamine or something. That screen is fuckin WILD. Don't miss the Dead Ahead experience at the Venetian, lotta cool stuff and merch for the Vegas residency. And Shakedown Street at the Tuscany is great, lotta good stuff there! Got a tie dye onesie with a dancing bear for my newborn, and there's some great custom art t-shirts for "Shakedown Strip"
June 3, 20241 yr They are so ON at the Sphere, I think the residency is really suiting their music. I shot a killer solo and finish for Brown Eyed Woman, the sphere is just a crazy fkn venue - live performance and energy but studio quality sound. Video in spoiler Spoiler 20240601_214530.mp4
June 3, 20241 yr These might be too compressed to be worth a shit - received them as text attachments...
June 3, 20241 yr A short op-ed involving the Dead at the Sphere that's worth the four minutes... https://www.wsj.com/articles/our-nostalgia-doom-loop-loneliness-technology-a2c93094?
June 13, 20241 yr Author 31 years ago today my life would change forever. It was my first show. 6/13/93 from Buffalo. I already loved their music, but I finally got to experience them live. Yes, they weren’t the same as they had been but Jerry was still somewhat healthy and playing well. It changed my life forever.
June 15, 20241 yr Holy shit. If you are reading this, you need to get to the Sphere. Words and pictures are inadequate.
June 16, 20241 yr Author This has been a fan fucking tastic show. I was really in the mood for Lost Sailor>St of Circumstance and this one is so fucking good!!
June 17, 20241 yr Pro tip for the Sphere: prioritize central seating, and where you will have no overhang. I sat in both the center side of 308 and the peripheral side of 309, and there's a distinct difference. I would recommend choosing seats between _04 and _08. June 21, 20241 yr Author It's been a crazy week. I was traveling for work but my son got really sick. He had to be admitted to the hospital for a really bad throat infection. They thought he might have an abscess that required surgical draining. After putting a camera down his esophagus two days in a row, they ere unable to find anything and he responded well to antibiotics. He is home resting now and I can finally relax a little. I'm going to have a couple cocktails and listen to some Grateful Dead to take the edge off a little.
June 21, 20241 yr Author and of course this show has a wonderful Lost Sailor/Saint of Circumstance...which I've been on at least a 6 month kick on. Goddamn, early 80's Dead was really solid!! seriously...this is a great fucking show! Edited June 21, 20241 yr by Hate
June 21, 20241 yr Author And a second set starter of "Alabam Get Away"? This show is going right into the rotation!
June 21, 20241 yr Author Holy shit!! Throw in an epic "Black Peter"?? Holy fucking shit,,,I've listened to this 4 times already. This is phenomenal!! Edited June 21, 20241 yr by Hate
June 22, 20241 yr Author And of course this one has a Black Peter that I cannot stop listening to. Goddamnit...I need to go to bed but I cannot stop listening to it.
June 27, 20241 yr Good interview with Mayer about the Sphere. https://www.gq.com/story/john-mayer-and-mickey-hart-of-dead-and-company
June 28, 20241 yr Author I really really love long lead ins to Wharf Rat and this show has a wonderful one.

July 3, 20241 yr Author So I'm going to start with this one early... and finish with this one late. The Wheel>Dear Mr Fantasy>Hey Jude>Sugar Magnolia>Mighty Quinn finish from this show is the start of a very special time for them. July 89 was one of their best, imo. https://archive.org/details/gd89-07-02.nak.8243.sbefail.shnf
July 5, 20241 yr Author My all time favorite show. Brent and Jerry are absolutely on fire the entire show. Bertha, Cold Rain, and Snow, Masterpiece, Deal, Women are Smarter and the Watchtower>Morning Dew>Not Fade Away finish is epic!! The show also has a terrific Ship of Fools, Terrapin, and Stagger Lee!
July 10, 20241 yr Author Here is another classic July 89 show! I needed this after the last 2 days…Fuck Beryl!!
July 19, 20241 yr Congratulations to the Grateful Dead on being honored by the Kennedy Center for their lifetime achievement in the arts. https://apnews.com/article/kennedy-center-honors-grateful-dead-coppola-932078b1a0b4dc0b61d74a3d384fc399
August 1, 20241 yr Author Not a bad way to end July. I'll be back on the road soon, so I am enjoying be able stay up a little later and listen to some shows.
August 1, 20241 yr Author I don't say things like this often, but Billy fucking murdered the Row Jimmy. This has not been one of his better shows. There have been a few times this show already that I've thought "wtf".
August 3, 20241 yr Author I'm all about drinking, smoking, and listening to the Grateful Dead tonight! I may have to hit the road over the next few weeks so I can't relax as much as when I'm home. So I'm checking out this fine show tonight.
August 3, 20241 yr Author This has been a fantastic show. It's the perfect blend of crowd and music. It's been a really fun night! The build up to Wharf Rat? Maybe the best Around and Around?? What a great show!!
August 4, 20241 yr Author Just getting into this early 80's gem. A strange mix though, Jerry's guitar is barely audible at first....so far.
August 4, 20241 yr Author What is better than a storm sitting on your house and listening to “Looks Like Rain”? Nothing!
August 24, 20241 yr Author I'm just past 1/2 through of 5 weeks on the road. It's good to be home and listening to some Grateful Dead. I may do a lot of the same this weekend.
August 24, 20241 yr Author This has been a fantastic show! The crowd recording is fine, but I would love to hear a soundboard recording of this. This second set is just about perfect for a Friday night!!
August 25, 20241 yr Author Already had some cocktails on the porch and checked out this show...solid but not spectacular. Now I am on to this...Jack Straw openers always get my attention!
August 25, 20241 yr Author Both of the show I posted had a very very solid Black Peter. The 8/24/80 one is better though as is the entire show. I love hearing the Hammond B3 during this song! It's perfect.
September 1, 20241 yr Author This whole show is good and the recording is great, but the Black Peter is phenomenal .
September 2, 20241 yr Author I'm still just heartbroken about Ygifs. I listened to He's Gone all night last night and just sat and drank in the rain. He wouldn't want that, but I couldn't help it. He would want me to queue up some Good Ol' Grateful Dead and enjoy my Monday night.
