May 26, 20196 yr It’s like all the damned Frozen Yogurt place a few years back. I get that the axes and the plywood lanes aren’t terribly expensive, but you can’t be selling as much booze as a normal bar, and insurance has to be outrageous on a place like that. Getting return business has to a challenge too, unless there is some sort of untapped demand for league Axe action that I’m unaware of.
May 26, 20196 yr They survive on company team building outings. You can only go to Top Golf so many times before a Debbie in accounting files a complaint.
May 26, 20196 yr I went to one recently. Not my idea. More fun than I expected. Doubt I’ll ever go back.
May 26, 20196 yr I'd like to think I have something to do with it. Although I didn't know this was a thing.
May 26, 20196 yr Having a concrete floor under the target and seems like real bad idea jeans. Not only ricochets, but edge maintenance.
May 27, 20196 yr Let me axe you a question. Any hot chick ever show you their axe wound at these places?
May 27, 20196 yr And wait till people start trying to throw it facing backwards and doing cartwheels and shit. Drinking and dangerous objects are a terrible mix.

May 27, 20196 yr My company had a happy hour at the one here in Austin last week but I was on vacation and missed it. Not sure if there were any casualties.
May 27, 20196 yr So, they serve alcohol and let you throw axes? Any gun ranges using this business model, yet?

May 28, 20196 yr I get nervous enough around drunks with darts.ESPN had the championship on a few months back. It was literally awesome.
May 28, 20196 yr credit where credit is due. situational awareness was much higher in the broad than the girl that caught the axe.
May 28, 20196 yr Also, apparently I wasn’t the first one to make hatchet wound jokes at this place. Didn’t slow me down though.

Every time I see it done, you need to do it with 2 hands to get enough power to embed it into the target wood. Pussy all one handed throws ain't going to do it - Aroldis Chapman they are not.
May 28, 20196 yr Love it. Should fucking have more frat games ala ‘Revenge of the Nerds’ But you know, without the rape
May 28, 20196 yr hell, for the last 3 months, BBC has the dart league every Thursday night, its a delayed play from 6 hours earlier,.That's good to watch

May 29, 20196 yr One would think with the 2012 Shaggy tomahawk buying spree that everyone would have a throwing range in their backyard. If you don't have one, find yourself a tree company that's taking down some pine trees. 24" OD, 6" thick pine cookies make great throwing targets.
May 29, 20196 yr I don't think this is a particularly new trend. I was going to bars 20 years ago in search of hatchet wound.
May 29, 20196 yr 24" OD, 6" thick pine cookies make great throwing targets. I’m sure that you’ve heard this before, but that isn’t 6”.

May 29, 20196 yr Also, I remember going to Wrigley 5 years ago or so and going to a bar in Wrigleyville called "Sluggers". My buddy comes back from what I thought was the pisser and says, "you won't believe what they have upstairs!" I said "Strippers?" He said, "Better." I said "Better than strippers? No way!" So we go upstairs and they have 3 or 4 batting cages with mechanical pitching machines throwing heat. In a bar. With lots of drunks. I was in heaven, but also flummoxed, as we would more likely have midget tossing than this in CA for liability reasons. Amazing.

May 31, 20196 yr Why don’t they just get to the point , make a bar where you just go in and fuck chicks after a beer
May 31, 20196 yr Why don’t they just get to the point , make a bar where you just go in and fuck chicks after a beerI thought Vegas had this already.
June 1, 20196 yr Went to High 5 with some friends tonight. The axe-throwing seemed pretty stupid. One guy broke his axe, though, which pissed off the "tutor", so that was cool.
June 2, 20196 yr She was asking for this. Where the fuck was she throwing it, at the ground? Every time I see it done, you need to do it with 2 hands to get enough power to embed it into the target wood. Pussy all one handed throws ain't going to do it - Aroldis Chapman they are not. Depends on the axe I guess. I’ve stuck many a tomahawk throw into a wood target one-handed. Never tried it two-handed.
June 6, 20196 yr They opened one of these in Nacogdoches and I never see anyone in there when we drive by it. We did a corporate event at one in Denver and it was a big hit with everyone that attended. It was much safer/better setup than the pictures in this thread. They used 10-12" thick tree stumps nailed to the wall for targets and had thick wood shavings on the ground to prevent the axes from bouncing off the floor. You could only throw over the head/shoulder and if you tried anything different you were immediately kicked out of the building. I don't see how they will have any kind of staying power though.
