Katemcy Rocks in Mason... not exactly close to Austin but not crazy far.

I went there years ago with a guy who had an old Bronco on 37s.  It was a blast but his truck was set up for rockcrawling.   I don’t know if they have a trails available with stuff suitable for a daily driver.   They might, I just don’t know.

There is a small place in Bastrop. This is my reminder to post when not hammered

I think there's some offroading spots around Fredburg & Marble Falls.

Took my boys to hidden falls adventure park today and they had a blast.

are there any other places to go within an hour or so of Austin?
I've always liked 4 Runners. Damn good off-roading vehicle and they look good too. The new ones are pretty sweet.

Yeah, it’s awesome

there were a couple of times I thought I was going to get stuck but it just powered through.

Should be even better now that I’m running on all 6 cylinders. It was running rough, bought a obd reader and 1 cylinder was misfiring. Replaced spark plug and wire and it’s going now.

This is an old neighborhood that the city of Bastrop did not approve for development in the 80's. They subdivided, and on maps, it looks like it has streets, but they are dirt. With a little mud, its a lot of fun, and it is public property, (the streets are technically city streets). Just stay off the lots, and you are good to go. (this was verified by both the city, and several times I have been out there, I have talked to Bastrop PD).

Can you take regular 4x4 truck out Adventure Falls and do some trails?

Don't do Black Gap in Big Bend in that truck. I'm a good, dumb driver and have done tons of jeep trails in Colorado. Anyway, I did Black gap in a Santa Fe with standard tread and a tow hitch and it was a huge mistake. Once you are on it there is no turning back and there were numerous times where I had to hit things right to avoid getting high centered as that hitch dragged across the rocks.

Yes. Mine is stock except for bigger wheels and I had no issues.

All the trails are rated 1-5 diamonds and stock should handle 1-2 ok.

We're going back in a few weeks.

Place out in Mason called Katemcy Rocks. A lot of it is for serious rock crawlers but they have some more moderate trails for something stock like your 4Runner
