Texas is the heavy favorite to win the national championship. They were the top seed in all 3 races for the NCAA championships.

Stanford was the #2, #3, and #4 seed in the 3 races. Either them or Washington will be the biggest competition.

The NCAA championships start on Friday. My niece is on the rowing team so I'll be tuning in.

This has the chance to go down as one of the most dominant teams in Texas history. They've won 25/26 races so far this year and the only loss was the Second Four (who are basically backups).

The three boats that will compete at the NCAA championships haven't lost a race all season.

Congratulations to your family. Having known crew folk well in college, I have the upmost respect for these athletes and dedication this sport requires. Amazing to see how it's spread nationally over the last 30 years.

Texas won heat 1 this morning in the first 8. Advanced to the semifinals.

Name of the game is to advance.

Second Eight won their heat and advanced to the semifinals. Just one more boat in the prelims later in the morning.

10:40 resumption for last Second Eight semifinal.  11:10 for Grand Four semifinal

All boats advanced to tomorrow. That’s the goal

Beating Washington in the 4s is going to be tough tomorrow.  As long as we can hold on to second there and take the 2 - 8s, we'll be golden.

Based on times in semis this is where the 3 contenders finished today

1 8s: Texas #1, Stanford #2, Washington #3

2 8s: Texas #1, Washington #2, Stanford #3

4: Stanford #1, Washington #2, Texas #3

If that's how finals finishes this will be the final point totals

Texas 130 total points.

Stanford 125 total points

Washington 123 total points

Based on times, Rutgers was really fast today in the First 8. Not far off Stanford or Washington.

It would be nice if Rutgers upset one of those teams in that race. It's also the race that rewards the most points.

My Longhorn son joined crew this Spring, which I thought was ridiculous since he had to get up at 4:40 5 days a week and got an extra hour of sleep on Saturdays. He stuck with it and ended up sitting stroke seat at ACRA a few weeks ago and got a medal.

Gives me a whole new appreciation for the sport and I’ve enjoyed watching the Horns keep winning. Three golds would be great but that’s going to be tough.

Well let’s finish better than 3rd in 4s and leave no doubt

Starting with the Four.

1st gets 22 points

2nd 21 points

3rd 20 points

4th 19 points

5th 18 points

6th 17 points

Based on times this weekend compared to competition this is our weakest boat.

Fours get third place but most importantly ahead of Stanford and Washington

Yep - that was huge.

Through 1 event:

Princeton 22 points

Ohio State 21 points

Texas 20 points

Stanford 19 points

Washington 18 points

Brown 17 points

That’s what matters! Go win the other 2 now

Yeah, Texas will take that result based on the semifinal times and projected times of the other boats.

Princeton still has a shot at this thing but Stanford and Washington are considered the primary competition.

Next Race about to start...

You've got 1 job and you can't read the lane assignments correctly... 😂😂😂

Hey no pressure

If Texas finishes 1st and Stanford 2nd they would be tied at 124.

First Eight is the tiebreaker. So yup, if Texas wins 1st they win the national title.

Point totals after 2 events:

Texas 58

Stanford 61

Washington 58

Princeton 58

So all 4 are rowing for the title then with a win

Yup, whichever team finishes 1st wins a national title (assuming it's one of those 4 teams).

Think the Second Eight was too reliant on the sprint at the end. Tried to make up too much ground which is their strength but needed a better start.
