I realize hindsight is 20/20, but perhaps building a gigantic homeless shelter in the middle of downtown Austin wasn't the greatest idea ever.

Reminds me too much of the ice poseidon streams where people trying to play audio of the n word cranked to 11.

They have to catch them doing it.  I guess a simple solution would be to post up a few foot patrol officers in the area which would probably drive the pushers away.  This idea will NEVER happen because cops do not get paid to stand around deterring crime.  They get paid for arrests and citations.  It's a total bullshit model of law enforcement that is followed by virtually every LEA in the country.

Well, the “stop & frisk” in NYC apparently worked pretty well, as their murder rate dropped in half in just a couple of years. I think the ACLU and citizen outrage put the kibosh on that program eventually.

Yeah, because it was some Jim Crow racist police state bullshit

That’s what the outrage was all about.... but apparently the profiling has saved a lot of black lives if you choose to look at it that way.

I have no problems with the outrage against the race profiling, am just surprised it never was taken to the SCOTUS because that court had declared the practice as unconstitutional decades ago.

Some group trying to recall mayor/council members reported that they found over 1000 needles and that it proves that the homeless issue is a drug issue not simply a housing issue; and reportedly one of the idiots said that we can’t confirm the needles are drug related unless they are tested.

Poke all 1000 needles into Adler and see if he develops any illnesses.

Okay then Mayor Fuckstick, then diabetes led them to be homeless.  When will they get the fucking point that you can’t motel-conversion your way out of this issue?

You really believe they are looking for a way out of this issue?

Don't you even grift bro?

AUSTIN, TX—August 20, 2019 - The City of Austin’s Art in Public Places Program, part of the Economic Development Department Cultural Arts Division, presents TEMPO 2019—a temporary exhibition of public art across Austin.  Now in its seventh year featuring seven sculptures in Austin Public Library branches and another 10 murals citywide, the TEMPO program showcases thought-provoking works by local artists that transform city spaces and catalyze community engagement.

Over the years, the TEMPO program has featured sculpture and mural installations sited in public parks, library branches, the airport and community centers throughout each of Austin’s ten council districts. This year, seven sculptures will be sited on Austin Public Library branch sites. The works reflect a broad range of styles and materials and address subjects such as cultural identity and the environment.

Additionally, the TEMPO 2D program will bring ten murals created by local artists to be sited in each council district.  Austin artists were selected to create hand-painted murals, vinyl adhesive artwork, and fiber art at locations across Austin including public parks, the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, and other high-profile locations.

“The TEMPO program has introduced public art to many Austinites and visitors and has highlighted the numerous ways it can enhance enjoyment of public spaces and encourage civic dialogue,” said Sue Lambe, Manager of the Art in Public Places Program. “This year, we are particularly excited to partner Austin Public Library for the artwork installations, sharing each artist’s work via artist talks at the branch where they have located their sculpture.”

Austin police are investigating after a man allegedly shot a customer from outside a restaurant on Super Tuesday.

The shooting took place at 9717 N. Lamar Blvd. just before 10 p.m. Tuesday night.

According to an Austin police report obtained by KVUE, an officer responded to a call about a shooting after a witness reported a restaurant manager "ran off a homeless person" who was urinating outside at the back of the restaurant.

About 15 to 20 minutes later, the homeless man reportedly returned to the front of the restaurant and started looking through the front glass door.

Yeah, a flaming grackle goes seem like a natural plot for his show.   Or something to do with our MLS franchise.

Mother fucker....I like that Pollo Rico (I presume that's the restaurant they're talking about). I get my hair cut across Lamar from there.  The center on the W. side of Lamar has an all-star roster of fantastic food: Bombay to Katmandu (indian and nepalese), cuban sandwich joint, las Mangonadas (paletas and such), the Halal World Market grocery....and yeah, some sketchy folks hanging around.

yup.  and College Roadhouse just south of there is a hidden gem.  area is much sketch, after dark, tho.
