Adler did not win on a "I will turn this city into a homeless tent city shithole" platform. If he had, he would not have been elected. No one knew he and the other council members would fuck over the city in 2019.

Yep. Shortly after being re-elected this asshole and Casar rammed this through with basically no input from anyone. The fellow council sheep went along with it. Which indicates to me a serious grift was on and needs a close looking into.

Don't blame Adler/Casar, blame the people that voted for them. Adler won with 60% of the vote and Casar won with 66% of the vote.  Both won landslide victories.  I saw "Vote Against Prop B" yard signs in central Austin.

Just want to restate how stupid this post is. If Adler had run on a “I’m gonna turn the city into a homeless tent shit” platform he would have got less than 5 percent of the vote. He didn’t. He lied. He did all this shortly after the election. Fuck him.

almost all of them are "wolf in sheep's clothing" types. "no really I'm a centrist".  I have to give Casar a bit of credit in that he is very honest about being a communist and the whole idea he had is coming off exactly as planned. the next step is to stall and then claim the problem is just too big and ask for more money for taxpayers because there is never enough money.

So where’s the grift?

And no audits of these grifters’ deals? How convenient.
42% of Austin voters are just plain stupid.

The 42% should bear the burden of the costs. Here's your chance to show your conviction, dipshits.

i'm laughing at the absolute bullshit absurdity of this bullshit, cause what else can you do. working people are fighting for livable wages but dipshits will bend over backwards to give homeless people free social services totaling $18k each. these people are homeless. they don't work. they don't give back to the community. other than taxes for cigarettes, booze, and other trivial shit, they pay no taxes. they are leeches. and 42% of the assholes in this city want to give these leeches $18k a year.

Not sure where you are getting the $180K/per resident.  The higher cost per resident population 50 camp is estimated at $1,368,800.  $1,368,800 divided by 50 results in $27,376, per resident annually -- at least on my calculator.  Maybe you are saying that a typical City of Austin project budget is normally underestimated by a factor of 6?

Entirely possible.

Yeah - that's my bad - should be 18K per year.  I misread the $1.8 million as $18 million.  Oops.

$18k, $27k, either are way too much. why should we have to pay $18-28k to every homeless motherfucker who shows up at the city limits? there may be up to 70 of these camps.

fuck that. spend that money helping working moms have daycare for children. spend that money on health care for working families. pay teachers better. there are a million other better uses for money than dumping it on a bottomless pit. support the people who give back to the community.

there are roughly 5500 underpaid teachers in AISD. give them each $15k annual raises and then hire more counselors. you want to help austin? help the kids of today get better education to give them a better head start on life. help them get counseling to prevent drug addiction and treat mental health issues.

geezus fuck i can't believe this bullshit.

Those are crazy numbers.

Why would we pay for two security guards to watch 100 people 24/7 at a cost of $3900 per person per year?  Are social services people really $171k per year each ... to watch over 50 people in addition to what the operational staffer and the security guards are doing?  That is 3x teacher pay.  Each camp needs an operational staffer at another $150k each?  $1750 per person for annual laundry?  Crazy...

Those are loaded contractor rates. Usually raw hourly pay rate multiplied by 3.0+. How else to you expect them to cover the kickback payments?

People who cannot easily see the grift screaming out from those figures shoud be steralized.

And what's sad is that's not just onesies and twosies in ATX, it's critical mass.

Why are meals and laundry included? Is that in addition to food stamps/TANF etc?

So glad I don’t live in Austin.
