April 27, 20241 yr Sticky rum glazed shrimp, grilled corn, charred salsa. All good but honestly the salsa was the best part. I added two chipotles in adobo that didn’t get the grill treatment.
April 27, 20241 yr Popular Post Not me tonight. When it comes to Mexican I stay in my lane and let Mrs Mo and her heritage take the lead. Chicken mole, beans and rice. So good.

May 5, 20241 yr I mean, is there something about the ingredients or preparation that makes them “street” tacos? Because to my eye, that looks like just a plain ol’ damn fine taco.

Because to my eye, that looks like just a plain ol’ damn fine taco. They’re tacos who got their education from the school of hard knocks. They’re a bit rough around the edges. Most have questionable tattoos, and have made some other poor life decisions. But they’re gotdamn delicious.

May 5, 20241 yr When I see street tacos on a menu or see the prepackaged tortillas at the store, the "street" taco tortillas are always small as hell. I just know if I order that shit in a restaurant, imma need like 6-8 of those things to make a meal out of it. I'm team regular size taco (no pun intended)

May 5, 20241 yr Sorry, posting and cooking/drinking. Kokoretsi— lamb spleen, liver, heart, sweetbread marinated and spiced, wrapped in caul and intestines and will be spit-roasted too. Greek haggis/ponce. I love every culture’s version of “let’s make these innards tasty.” And I approve.

May 8, 20241 yr Street tacos generally mean you pay more for smaller portions of the same shit in regular tacos. Makes hipsters think they’re cool. I don’t think they call tacos sold in street and market stalls in Guadalajara “street tacos”. It’s a marketing term. Like thinking Torchys is really hip. Uhh it’s just a corporate owned chain restaurant like fucking Dickeys.

In Matamoros and other border towns the street tacos are definitely what everyone considers “street tacos” and have been for a long time. Now if what they serve in them is beef always is a different question. Not all places charge the same price as big tacos, plenty hole in the wall Mexican joints or food trucks sell them much cheaper.
