Reminder, Ashley Callen, the female Republican lawyer, was a bridesmaid for Ainsley Earhardt (Fox and Friends co-host).

And Doug Collins was a chaplain in the Air Force, and still is.  Imagine a chaplain acting that shitty.

This is the worst, most tedious, most excrutiatingly tendentious impeachment ever. I used to be in favor of it, but damn if you people aren't just thoroughly godawful human beings to make people suffer through this total waste of time. Can you kill with boredom? Looks like we're going to find out.

Well I guess if it’s too boring we should forget about. Fucking boring ass constitution.

Give it up shithead. Your god king will be impeached. Then you can bitch about that as well.

Is there anyone here who actually believes the hammer ever favored impeachment? What a fraud that guy is and Always has been.

You messed up troll.

It's really hard to find an analogy, but here's an attempt:

This is like an Adam Sandler movie on Netflix, with our fearless main cast:

  • Ronald Drumpf - Adam Sandler
  • Jimmie Gordon - Bobcat Goldthwaite
  • Doug Rollins - Rob Schneider
  • Kevin Nunez - Jon Lovitz
  • Matt Gates - David Spade
  • Steve Cantor - Steve Buscemi
  • Rafael Cruz - Kevin Nealon
  • Mitch McDonald - Henry Winkler
  • Lincoln Graham - Norm Macdonald
  • Louie Juliannie - Robert Smigel

Act One: Drumpf has a lot of friends.  Well, they aren't really friends, at least not in the traditional sense.    Drumpf and his "friends" maybe did some really shady shit and took some money from some people that they'd rather not have the rest of the world know about  And maybe they are even in debt to these people.  One-by-one, he brings his "friends" to various golf courses that he owns, and he tells them "now look, I know you don't like me, and I don't like you, but guess what?  I maybe did some bad things, some really bad things, and I know that maybe you did some really bad things, and I need you to protect me, and so if you protect me, I won't tell anybody about the bad things you did."  We see a brief montage of the shady shit they did, and him threatening them on a golf course.

Act Two:  Now all of Drumpf's "friends" are nervous as shit.  They are not happy, because they feel like he could throw them under the bus at any moment, but they are dutifully out there protecting him, in order to save their asses.  They are constantly texting each other, and trying to stay on Drumpf's good side.

Act Three:   Drumpf takes all of his "friends" into a massive casino.  Now, some of his "friends" actually control half of the casino.  But the other half of the casino is owned by Shifty Adam (Adam Scott) and Nancy Potosi (Tina Fey), Drumpf's enemies.  Drumpf gathers his "friends" around him and announces that they are going to rob the shit out of the casino right then and there. They are going to steal everything they can get their hands on, and every one of them better leave the casino with at least a half a million.  The "friends" protest, saying that they control half the casino, and that if he needs a favor or money, just give them time and they'll take care of him.  But no, Ronald Drumpf wants this to be remembered by everybody.    And he tells his "friends" that if they fail to do what he says, or if he is even so much as touched by a security guard, that he will rat every single one of them out to the police.  To top it all off, he tells Matt Gates that he better shit in his hand and start flinging it at security cameras, and that Jimmie Gordon better pull every fire alarm, and make his way to the control room and turn on the fire sprinklers.

We are currently deep into Act Three.

Impeachment is just a bunch of performative nonsense.  Theater only meant to illustrate to dems that their elected leaders are ostensibly doing their jobs.  It's totally meaningless and is only sucking air from the event that will actually determine who will be president after next year.

So who runs the trial in the Senate? Who determines what witnesses are called?

Republicans.

Weren't the "witnesses" already all called, none of them had anything. This one is going to flip on Shiff since he will purge himself about meeting the "whistleblower", the person he said they would call that they never did. The person he wants to protect the privacy of, but he's never met. Hilarious.

The event that will determine who will be president after next year is currently (and in the past) unduly influenced by parties domestic and foreign. If all of the elected leaders in the House were ostensibly doing their jobs, then we would not be viewing a sideshow carnival act by some of the performers. If you are one of the people who thinks Vladimir Putin is some sort of misunderstood villain and will ultimately prove to be Severus Snape, hero in disguise, you need to delve deeper into how Russia/Crimea/Ukraine and the forces and people sympathetic to Russia operate. They are there and they are here and they have managed to completely subvert our country to their advantage.

If you think the Russians meaningfully influenced the 2016 election then your grasp of reality is about as tenuous as the average poster on the TexAgs politics board.  Even hacks like Nate Silver will admit that there's no evidence that foreign intervention had any import whatsoever.

To our friends who scoff at this impeachment:  you are the problem.  You are willfully ignorant and immune to fact.  You have no moral compass.

Fuck.

You.

The hypocrisy of the right is impressive. Spent 8 years wanting to impeach Obama for made up things while supporting Trump as he has done real things, rationalized because previous admins supposedly have done made up things.

I sure as heck believe Fiona Hill's testimony over anything you would posit.

Quote

“The impact of the successful 2016 Russian campaign remains evident today,” she said, wearing black and speaking in an accent from north-east England (a feature she highlighted elsewhere in her testimony, in speaking of her roots). “Our nation is being torn apart. Truth is questioned. Our highly professional and expert career foreign service is being undermined. US support for Ukraine – which continues to face armed Russian aggression – has been politicised.”

She added: “Right now, Russia’s security services and their proxies have geared up to repeat their interference in the 2020 election. We are running out of time to stop them. In the course of this investigation, I would ask that you please not promote politically driven falsehoods that so clearly advance Russian interests.” The Guardian 11-21-19

I watched her entire testimony and she is the real deal and my grasp of reality is that Russia, its leaders, its oligarchs and persons friendly to them and aligned with them stateside are attacking our country. If you cannot see this, then you are deliberately closing your mind.

That's not what I heard.

But that would change my mind if that were the case.

The right just wants to win elections. It's that simple. The only time they're ever honest is when they're gloating over some victory. Every other word they blabber is either meant to gaslight everyone (including themselves) into believing they're knowledgeable, or to gaslight everyone (including themselves) into believing that they care about America.

They're broken souls. We're fucked.

Hypothetical game for you Rocko. IF Russia was effective in changing votes to impact the election, would it be better to communicate that to the populace and risk plummeting trust in our democratic systems, or down play and try to fix the attack vectors before the next election?

Every intelligence report around the world has proven out that Russia is actively working to undermine Democracies everywhere. Russia foreshadowed this attack on us years ago during a cyber conference. It has been shown that they had an impact on the Brexit campaign, using the same social media strategy as they did with our elections. It has also been shown that they were able to hack our voter roles in America which provides them info to have pointed attacks in swing districts.

Ignoring all this is on you, not us. We are in a war with Russia (and China). A new type of war that we are just now trying to understand completely. Keep your head in the sand all you want and keep on keeping on in Thailand with your paid gf's.

Nothing will happen. The trolls don't have to work that hard. Fox News is a fully functional firewall.  They will deliver good news for Trump no matter what happens, and McConnell will use that "good news" to squash any chance of actual justice in the Senate.

We will be the Russian vassal state that Zavala and GRHorn dream of. They don't even really need to openly tell us that they are traitors.

The whole "show us the whistleblower" is one of the most stupid and dishonest aspects of this whole inquiry.  It's also such a laughable example of witness tampering and intimidation related to an administration that uses obstruction of justice as SOP.

I work for a Fortune 500 company.  No better or worse than any other company, but if a person comes to us and makes a complaint of fraud, or harassment or anything and wants to remain anonymous, they stay anonymous.  The case is investigated, and witnesses are questioned.

The underlying relevance of the whistleblower vanishes once other facts and witnesses are discovered.  If it is a critical matter and the whistleblower is the only person who can or will support some underlying fact, then there may be a point where the case needs to be "dropped" or the company needs to go all in one what the whistle blower is claiming.  (I.e., make a crediblity determination regarding an allegation of sex harassment).

Nobody gets to harass the whistle blower, because it is understood that if the case isn't supportable, it's likely not going to pass the smell test.  But more likely, in a case of multiple witnesses, the whistle blower is just listed as another witness, primarily so as not to dissuade whistle blowers in the future.

Sure, once a whistleblower is called as a fact witness post investigation, I think it is fair to find out if they were the whistle blower and what they reported -- that could relate to credibility and be food for cross examination.  But at the investigation phase?

Which is all to say that IMO, the impeachable offense is obstruction of justice, and always has been.
