October 5, 20205 yr Nothing like bringing in a 67 year old already inside your building to reinvigorate a stagnant organization.

It's the same reason why I don't think that Harden would result in a huge return if traded. For better or worse, Houston is the James Harden Experience now. The style is so ingrained now--to the tune of 35+ ppg scoring averages and a half dozen top 3 MVP votes--what coach is going to be able to convince him to give up the ball and go set a screen? Any incoming coach isn't realistically going to be able to change the system.
October 5, 20205 yr The coach won't matter with their current roster. They should hire someone young and unproven that can captain a rebuild.

Only way they can rebuild is if they dump Harden and Westbrook. Like Aggie said, neither are gonna change how they play and I cant imagine either would be happy with a rebuild.
October 5, 20205 yr If the Knicks had ANYTHING of value, they should be blowing up Houston's phones offering them everything. But alas...

I'm saying someone that can stick around through Russ and Harden and be okay with an upcoming tank. But they won't do that - even though there are no reasonable "win now" candidates. Pop isn't going to Houston. Spo, Stevens, Snyder, Malone, Carlisle aren't leaving. No one else moves the needle enough for them to win with aging Westbrook as their 2nd best player. I'm guessing they hire Donovan (nvm - I thought he had already got scooped but couldn't remeber). And they will be a 3-5 seed and flame out in the first round. Edited October 5, 20205 yr by ztejas
October 5, 20205 yr Wait a minute, in the year 2020, a real NBA franchise is going to hire John Lucas who coached the Spurs 100 years ago? The guy who took over for Jerry Tarkanian? Holy shit he was a bad coach. Better than Tark, at least at the NBA level, but holy Morris McHone, John Lucas was an awful coach. Like, roll out the ball and see what happens while he jumped around on the sideline looking like a spastic George Jefferson after he just walked in on Weezy giving Mr. Bentley a hummer. His idea of strategy was to iso David Robinson on every fucking possession and see if he could make chicken salad out of chicken shit. If he missed, Rodman (a version of the Worm before he went completely crazy) would go hunt down the rebound and give it back to him. That surprisingly worked well enough to get Robinson the scoring title, Rodman the rebounding title, plus 55 wins and homecourt advantage in the first round,. But they were absolutely lost in the playoffs. No clue, no adjustments, no discipline. On second thought, he might be perfect for the Rockets. The most notable thing that John Lucas ever did as a coach was to hire George Gervin as his assistant. They would play each other in HORSE before the games. Ice would kill him by making bank shots from every conceivable angle. Off the fucking shot clock.

He's a good asst to the asst and really good at helping troubled guys rehab but no way in 202 should he be in line for a HC job. Especially not for a team that claims to be trying to win a title. That HOU org is rotten all the way to the top.

If your designated 3pt specialist keeps missing are you going to keep letting him shoot? Taking the shot is only half the equation.
October 6, 20205 yr sweet was just about to ask that. if he is ~80% and can find a way to just do one aspect of defense in the paint capably they has a fighting chance
October 6, 20205 yr Bam keeps another 3-point shooter off the floor. So he'll be a net positive on defense and the boards, but it will make it easier for the Lakers to defend and play 2 bigs.
October 6, 20205 yr Harden could still change his game but would need to go to one of the franchises with an incredibly strong culture. Spurs and Heat come to mind. Neither put up with much BS no matter who you are.He will never change playing for the Rockets, that is for sure. And the team as constructed will never win a title.

October 7, 20205 yr There's just something that feels right about Andre Iguodala hitting every part of the rim rattling in a 3 in the NBA Finals.
October 7, 20205 yr Every pickup game has that one dude like Alex Caruso. He's white, usually wears a headband, usually kinda ugly looking. And you like him as a teammate and he annoys the piss out of you when he's on the other team.
October 7, 20205 yr I swear to god, why is Pop the only coach in the league who tells his players to let LeBron (and other elite finishers) score when they get underneath the basket? Contesting has such a low reward to risk ratio. You're almost never going to alter his shot cleanly, so your options are an and-1 or a foul (whether legit or ref-assisted). LOL as I speak Butler just let LeBron score without contesting when LeBron was in dunk range.
October 7, 20205 yr Jesus LeBron stfu. You don't get to call your own fouls in this game. Even if you're right.
October 7, 20205 yr lol caruso hardly gets hip checked at the end of the half and comes up limping. Dork
October 7, 20205 yr The Heat look so much more competent and comfortable out there with the Lakers in this game than in game 2. They're not even playing particularly well and are hanging in there. Looks like the Lakers shooters came back to Earth a bit too.

October 7, 20205 yr Lol at that foul on Bam. And what's funny is if they don't call that ticky tack shit the Lakers get a 3.
