Do they not put you under for a prostate biopsy now ?  They sound pretty fucking painful.

I've had a couple - and they didn't put me under, most recently was 2 years ago.
Let me say it really is a pain in the ass, although psychologically the sound (and waiting for it) is fucking nerve racking

Good news was both test were negative - although I'm late in my follow up with the urologist, I just don't want a 3rd test (yet)

Nope, they don't put you under.  I've had three, and for my first one they didn't even use a local anesthetic.  Worst pain I've ever experienced by far.  The last two used a local anesthetic, and it made a world of difference, but it is still a very unpleasant pain in the ass.

I had a colonoscopy done just over a week ago. They knocked me out and the procedure was easy. The prep kit sucked the day before the procedure.

Get one done if you have family history or at the age of 45. They found and removed polyp that would have most likely been cancerous in 5 years. I get to do it again in three years.

Well, my GP sent me to a urologist for a 2nd opinion about my prostate. Turned out the specialist was quite a nice looking blond cougar, so the digital exam was kinda nice. She followed it up by extensively fondling my junk and looking at it very closely. That used to be the 100 Peso Especial at Papagayo’s in Nuevo Laredo.

My dr referred me to a urologist after he found something during an annual physical  so I've had a lot of strange fingers stuck up my ass recently feeling on the old prostrate.  Highlight of the visits was a cystoscopy procedure.  Definitely gets your attention when the camera slides up through the prostrate.

Put it this way, what you had was the garden variety equivalent of getting to third base in junior high, a little finger action.

What he and anyone else are trying to say is, that’s nothing compared to no food for 24 hours, 8 hour prep drink that induces a Montezuma’s Revenge cleanse, all topped off the next day, with a Swiss Army knife of a camera/scrapper/cutting tool (insert Billy Mays joke here) shoved up your keister large enough they put you under.

The best part, I wanted a cigarette after, and I don’t smoke. And the wife will laugh at you, because it was nothing compared to blah blah blah....

But that’s not important right now.

do you have to change facebook relationship with the doc after that?

No, but if you get a boner you have to change your sexual preference.

If I was a doctor, I would probably on a few occasions walk into the room to do the exam and make sure the patient sees me lubing my arm up to the elbow. Just to see the reaction and “gotcha” moment.

Had a prostate exam and a colonoscopy last month.  Colonoscopy found/removed a precancerous polyp.  So money well spent.

So I got that goin' for me....

My first prostate exam wasn't that bad. The Doc put his hands on my shoulders and told me I'd feel a little pressure. It was over in a few minutes.

When is the next time she is going to get the chance to examine caveman junk? It was more of an anthropological study than a medical procedure at that point.

JK, glad everything is ok.

I've had exams out the wazoo. 3 biopsies and the 1st one put me in the hospital because of an infection. I had a fusion targeted biopsy and got stuck 36 times. It's a little unnerving when blood comes out of your pecker when you try to pee.

On a funnier note, both of my urologist have been women. When I went to my first one, she had me bend over and spread 'em. She said "now comes the unpleasant part." I turned and looked at her and said "I'm pretty sure the unpleasant part is the view you have."

had my first colonoscopy this past year and it was pretty damn easy. the prep was two 16oz drinks the night before

i was clean as a whistle, nothing to even sample. dr said im good for 10 years

Glad I was smart about my lunch selection
I thought the docs orders on lunch selection was no food after a set time the day before.

Same here. I had mine in late December. He removed 2 polyps that were non cancerous. He said I don’t have to have another one for another 10 years. The prep absolutely sucked, but the lunch the next day was glorious.

made online appointment and they didnt send any instructions.

also, im not sure how the toot-toot examination was supposed to be - i thought they actually prod around with a finger - but i just felt a prod for half of a split second, and it mustve been with some device  (i was obv turned on the side so didnt see).

had some gel smeared all over my stomach and they ran a sonogram-looking device over to image and measure the size of prostate.  then they used the same device for a second on the underside of me balls - he said to check for flow rate?.  and then the toot-toot exam.

Due to family history, I've been getting these gems yearly since I was 35.  The highlight so far was when I went in for a post vasectomy follow-up and the Dr wasn't in.  So his fairly young/hot PA did the scrotal exam then went ahead and did the DRE since I was already there.  I had no idea how much more pleasant it is with her slim, feminine fingers.  I hope they don't think it's weird, but I believe I'll be requesting her for my DREs from now on.

I'm interested to see that some of the DREs took 5 minutes.  Mine lasted about 5 seconds.  I guess she knew what she was looking for and hit the eject button when she didn't find it.

I’m with you on this. Like most things in life, the prep work (pants down) and clean up (wipe and suit back up) take way way longer than the actual DRE itself.
