If only we named our full time coach.

Yep. Can’t wait until we name a middling MLS coach as our MNT coach. Woo!

Still nuts over JJ goal. So much happiness

I have an irrational love for JJ. Don’t know why or what it is, but I do. But that goal was fucking magic, and I’m still pissed they tied it at the end.

Jonathan Klinsmann called up for United States friendlies vs. England, Italy

Hertha Berlin goalkeeper Jonathan Klinsmann has been called up to the United States squad for the forthcoming friendlies against England and Italy after goalkeeper Zack Steffen and midfielder Darlington Nagbe withdrew from the team with injuries.

Klinsmann, the son of former U.S. head coach and Germany captain Jurgen Klinsmann, holds both German and American citizenship.

/Awkward.  Just kidding.  Iirc, he was the starter for a couple of years ago in a U20 or U17 tourney.  He made some amazing plays but let in a really soft goal that caused us to get knocked out.

He has far surpassed any expectations I had for him. Always just thought of him as a spoiled son, but he has some real talent.

Same here.  I remember him being a little bitch when LD was left off the 2014 WC squad.

lingard curls a nice one into the top right corner from inside the top of the box. guzan could have been positioned better. we look terrible.

Too much talent and experience for the three lions

scared of the big bad lions.

2 goals scored, we get a free kick on the edge of the final third, and the ref blows the whistle right at 45?

Why the hell did we start Green in the #10 role and put Pulisic on the wing? What an awful lineup. Pulisic is a #10 for this team. Put him where he's going to get the ball.

And now 3-0. That'll be all for me. Said it before and I'll say it again: these games are a waste of time at this point.

We clapped hands and I said I hope he scores a lot of goals... I feel like a retard

Just met Jozy Altidore at a nba game... bruh. The hoes he had... my god

I still love Joey, fuck the haters.

Fun lineup, but could be exposed.

This is effing ridiculous.  And I've never seen a 3-2-3-2 (or 3-5-2) with both d mids further wide than the outside backs.

yo who is this goat goalkeeper.. man!

Really glad Lasagna didn't score on us. Didn't want to feel like Vic after one of his dates.

Absolutely horrible.  There are so many things wrong with this team.  I'm not sure any coach worth a shit is going to want to take over this dumpster fire.

I'm tired of watching Bobby Wood, with his head down, dribbling straight into 3 or 4 defenders and losing the ball every fucking time.

I'm tired of watching a team completely incapable of connecting on even the simplest of passes.

I'm tired of watching the defenders just chunk the ball down the field every time.

And I'm really tired of our piece of shit soccer confederation dicking around.  I thought we were waiting for Columbus to lose so we could get their coach???

You cannot just bring in random players and put them in random positions with random formations and expect anything positive.  We need a system and we've somehow now gone, what, an entire year without a coach.

And holy shit, Grant Wahl just said that some coach from Spain expressed interest in the US job but was told the process was too far along for him to be considered.  What in the actual fuck?!?!?

Wow. The frustrating part about this is they are so secretive about the entire process. I've never been so uninterested in watching this team. I turned the stream off today at about the 75th minute. I just didn't care to watch anymore.

BTW - I looked it up, because I was curious. That "some coach from Spain" was Julen Lopetegui.

So we can wait over a year to hire a coach, but not wait - however long it takes to interview someone - to ensure we've got the best coach?  I guess this is what happens when you run a monopoly and nobody has the power to demand any kind of standard.  Hell, IIRC, US Soccer barely got rid of Arena after the disaster in T&T.

Italy completed 697 out of 775 passes.

The US completed 193 our of 271.

And a case could be made that Italy's team has underachieved for years AND may have fielded a younger team today.

We are going to fuck off with this generation of players

Playing 5 in the back with 3 defensive mids ends with us having no possession and being dominated? Very surprising.

This is why I don't think we can ever really play 5 in the back. We just don't have the midfield for it. Need to go 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1.

On the coaching search:

To be fair, experience coaching the Spanish national team isn't really what we need.  Spain needed a guy who could squash egos and get players who are near the best in the world to play together as a team.  We need a guy who can get players to overachieve and play to our few strengths when required.  We need Jay Wright, not John Calipari.

Spain is like coaching the 92 Dream Team, or trying to get Carmelo to play a role rather than hog the ball.

We won't hire that guy either
