Well, we're not executing any justices, and even the idea of a new round of Nuremberg trials is laughable.

I'd settle for gibbets or pillories.

The whole episode is pretty bad for the Court.  The leak is embarrassing.  But the decision is catastrophic. You've got a 5-4 decision to get rid of a something that has been settled as a constit

fuck that, let's bring back scaphism or the brazen bull. make fascists afraid again

I miss the lawyer I was when SCOTUS was something that could be respected by people in the legal profession.  That lawyer was so eager and energetic and thoughtful.

It's too bad the Roberts Court killed him (and many others like him--looking at you, @Brisketexan & @DDD Dad).

As I re-read Justice Sotomayor's dissent in Trump v. CASA, Inc., I hold out some possibility that Sotomayor, Jackson, and Kagen were three of the four votes needed to grant cert.

Kavanaugh concurred in that case specifically arguing that CASA wasn't a big deal because SCOTUS would get a chance to decide the EO on its (complete lack of) merits.  Sotomayor was all "bullshit motherfucker, because the DOJ would know it'd get poured out and so it'd never petition for cert."  And so once the DOJ did petition for cert, I think it's possible that Sotomayor, Jackson, and Kagen voted in favor with Kavanaugh voting yes also because he kind of set himself up to do so with his concurrence in CASA.

At least, I really really hope that's the deal.

has anyone tried suing scotus? since everything is made up and the points don't matter, why the fuck not? why not done!

You all could have gone into a reputable profession like pimpin’ or murder for hire instead.

No, it’s worse than you and your legal beagle brethren thought.  It’s exactly as bad as we the unwashed have been trying to tell you for the last seven or so years.

I think it's pretty likely Alito retires this summer.

No way, unfortunately the prestige of the job is such that it takes a person of rare character to retire before dying in office.  Does that sound like Alito to you?

well it doesn't sound like Ginsberg, that's for sure
