April 8, 20187 yr If JoePa was given a raw deal, it’s only because Jerry Sandusky didn’t use any lube Fuck him, Fuck Penn State, and Fuck anyone who defends what they did
April 8, 20187 yr They're also delusional. After the game, we walked out chanting "We Are....SC!", a chant that originated on the USC campus in the 1930s. Several PS fans yelled back to "get your own cheer". We just smirked back, but it is on record the 1977 PSU cheerleaders that started the chant heard it on a televised USC game. Idiots.https://bwi.rivals.com/news/the-origins-of-we-are-Sounds pretty aggyish..But at least aggy only molests each other..and sheep of course, but I'll leave that for PETA and the humane society to sort out.

Was he scared his failure to act in 1998 would sully his legacy? Was it money? Was it bigger than that, with Sandusky holding something over his heAd? I get the SMUs, aggy, and Dickerson TransAm stories. Greed makes sense. I even get the Patino 'sex em up' philosophy, consenting adults and all; NCAA regulations be damned. However, I cannot reconcile what 'win' was for Joe Pa to look the other way or be so cavalier about Sandusky. You're worried about ruining someone's weekend or even beating Nebraska...while little boys got raped. It doesnt add up. Not to cloak room but think about the current climate of politics and what people will rationalize when team over all else mentality takes over.

April 9, 20187 yr Quote Sandusky, 67, retired from Penn State shortly after the Alamo Bowl in December 1999. In his 2000 autobiography, “Touched: The Jerry Sandusky Story,” he says he decided to leave after he “came to the realization I was not destined to become the head football coach at Penn State.” http://www.pennlive.com/midstate/index.ssf/2011/03/jerry_sandusky_former_penn_sta.html The movie was summary of the critical information that is available through court documents, biographies, memoirs and news stories. The movie did not talk about Sandusky possibly getting pushed out. Based on the original article breaking the story it sure looks like he was forced out since the first known allegation by administrators was after the 1999 Alamo Bowl.

April 9, 20187 yr Paterno knew and only cared about the game. Life is more than a game. Fuck the fans, coaches, and faculty, that stood behind Paterno.
April 10, 20187 yr In the least shocking development news of the day- Group of Penn State football lettermen call Paterno movie 'uninformed' and 'reckless' A statement signed by nearly 300 Penn State football lettermen, including Franco Harris and Ki-Jana Carter, called the film, which stars Al Pacino as Paterno, “uninformed” and says it “fails in every manner” to depict the late coach. The film’s director, the statement says, “takes shameless liberties about the Jerry Sandusky scandal and Joe’s knowledge of it that would certainly be proven libelous if Joe were alive today.” Here is the statement in its entirety: “As Penn State Lettermen, there was never a question that one day we would see a movie made about Joe Paterno, one that showcased his impact on the game of football, on Penn State University and, on the thousands of men he coached and mentored over his 61-year career. “Sadly — and wrongly — HBO’s ‘Paterno’ is not that movie. It has been described by producer Barry Levinson as a work of fiction, which is likely the only truth in the entire project. Incredibly, in making the movie, Levinson and his team never consulted a single person who was close to, worked with, or was coached by Joe Paterno. Not even family members or us, who undoubtedly knew him best of all. “As a result, this uninformed depiction of Joe fails in every manner about the man we knew and loved. Deviously using ‘fiction’ as his shield, Levinson takes shameless liberties about the Sandusky scandal and Joe’s knowledge of it that would certainly be proven libelous if Joe were alive today. “As a coach, educator and philanthropist, Joe Paterno was a positive force in our lives, molding us not only to win games, but to win in life. His character, integrity, and moral compass will live on in us long after the ill-gotten ratings of this reckless attempt at entertainment fades away.” https://www.yahoo.com/sports/group-penn-state-football-lettermen-call-paterno-movie-uninformed-reckless-010357730.html

April 22, 20187 yr Just caught the movie. Decent, of course some of it has to be taken with a grain of salt. My favorite part, however, which is undisputed fact, is the score displayed during the Alamo Bowl that Pacino watches towards the end. PSU 24, A&M 0.
April 22, 20187 yr Penn State, Baylor, and OU should have been given the death penalty in all men's sports. I'm completely serious.
April 22, 20187 yr OU? How 'bout Miami (SMU style recruiting and booster influence)or UNC( outright academic fraud.)
May 8, 20187 yr The movie was pretty spot on, except they did not show flashbacks of Joe conspiring to hide exposure of the incidents, as they did with others. Portrayed the cult pretty well.

Because the film falls under the category of art or editorial, they don't need to secure rights from Penn State. If this was a brand advertisement intended to overtly make money off some product, then they would be sued within hours. However, movies, books, editorial, etc., are protected. Of course, Penn State can always sue if they feel the movie is untrue in it's depiction, but they would have a hard time winning based on the producers of the movie claiming artistic license.
May 8, 20187 yr Author And the defendant would be able to ask for PSU internal documents and such. They've had to turn stuff over for all the other times, but who's to say they don't have more skeletons.

True story. In the film, Titanic, a crew member is shown doing a poor job of saving people, and he ends up shooting himself. Because the filmmakers based the character on a real person but apparently completely fictionalized his behavior, the people of the Scottish town he was from blew up and tried to sue James Cameron. He ended up apologizing for the depiction. So in certain cases, movie producers will at least confront critics, but doubt Penn State will do anything. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/78839.stm
May 8, 20187 yr I had a hard time watching "Paterno". It seemed like every 10 minutes or so I'd get so pissed, disgusted, or nauseous that I'd have to change the channel and go back later. Maryland wanted him back in the early 90s, and again before Sandusky "retired" in 99, but I don't think it's a coincidence that he didn't receive much interest after that. This story broke in March to very little national attention, but if you look at the regional rivals for PedoState at that time, they were definitely giving it attention. Here's a quote from a Maryland message board back when Ganim first published the article in late March: "This has been fodder for years in State College. What makes it even worse is it is rumoured people knew about it or at least had suspicions and did nothing." This whole revisionist bullshit about how it was only Sandusky and that GodPa and the fanbase shouldn't suffer is nonsense. That fanbase, for the most part, has been horrible in how they've responded to this
May 9, 20187 yr There is a level of revulsion that all "normal" adults should have for anyone who rapes children. If somone works for you and other employees come to you and say "boss, Jerry's fucking little kids," there is only one course of action to take. You cannot put the reputatuion of the program ahead of protecting children. Paterno would have been a hero if as soon as this was reported to him he had immediately suspended his D coordinator and waited for the police to investigate before deciding which way to go. Any other decision makes him complicit. Anyone who is not sickened by that must not be able to grasp what a terrible event being ass raped by a grown man must be for a kid. Little kids depend on adults to protect them from the monsters.
