July 4, 20196 yr Not even sure where to start. Mom passed 5 years ago. Dad has been in AA for 2 years (although we know as of this week he is just going thru the motions). He met a 56 yo woman at AA in the past 4 to 6 weeks. Started out by buying her groceries etc. She is jobless, lost custody of her 13 yo kid, has a dwi she is currently dealing with. So far my sister and i have found out dad payed her dogs vet bill. 6k. He has been withdrawing alot of money. 26k in the last month. As of last friday she moved in the house. She has convinced dad to have valuables appraised and to pull mom's jewelry out of the safe deposit box. Is there a way to get her out of the house? This is Bell co. We have tried for years to get dad to go to rehab. He is back to saying he wants to drink himself to death. He does this pretty much every summer. Multiple trips to ER, hospital stays until he dries out then he checks himself out. Any thoughts are appreciated.

July 4, 20196 yr If she's dealing with a DWI, I'm sure she has plenty of restrictions. I'm also sure she isn't following them. Get my drift?

July 4, 20196 yr Elderly folks have lots of protections against financial abuse. If you want to start incognito I’d alert his financial institution as they are required by law to act. Theres a list of Texas laws here: http://www.ncsl.org/research/financial-services-and-commerce/financial-crimes-against-the-elderly-2017-legislation.aspx
July 4, 20196 yr Get you a lawyer versed in such things. And good luck. I'm afraid you're gonna need it pretty bad.

My sister already has access to some accounts and started working toward freezing accounts. But dad has caught on and removed her.
July 4, 20196 yr If you have some mean scary step-sisters, sic them on the succubus. That's how we eventually got a 30-something gold digger to move on from my dad who was about 75 at the time. The fact that she had already spent most of his money probably helped too.

So how much does a 30 something year old gold digger cost a 75 year old man? For future reference. Maybe some financial planning.

Talked him into a reverse mortgage on his Hill Country home and the 5 (10? I forget) acres it sat on, I don't know the exact sum, but it gone. Dad had a year or so of reliving his biker youth with her, rampaging around the country, blowing $. I think after she lit out, she started doing porn. I hope he at least got some practice sessions for his money. I have never seen her videos but if you google skinny tattooed skank you might luck into one.

July 5, 20196 yr Drunk drivers almost never go to jail. Not for more than a night or two anyway. Then she comes home needing even more cash.

July 8, 20196 yr Fuk that gold digging Polish whoreIsn’t that how the problem got started in the first place?
July 11, 20196 yr I doubt your dad will come to his senses. The skank needs to be convinced to seek out other pastures. How that is accomplished is the interesting part.
July 11, 20196 yr Seriously you need to find a way to get a Power of Attorney. My wife had to do the same with her Dad as he was an alcoholic and then had a brain aneurysm (he somehow fully recovered) and another health scare a few years later which opened the door for her utilize the power of attorney and fix his mess. Sure enough he was being taken advantage in a similar fashion by some drug addict like gals and they were robbing him blind, wrote some hot checks from his account and opened a couple of department store credit cards in his name. We didn't find this stuff out until after he had a second health scare, but she did manage to get him to sign on to the Power of Attorney after the first scare and she got control of his accounts and filed police and fraud reports with the appropriate entities and got him into an assisted living facility. Sad to say your Dad is on track to have one of those health scares because of his age and his lifestyle. Once he does and if you have the POA, you can exercise it and tell the moocher to pound sand or else. I'd be looking for evidence right now that you could hold against her in the sense that it may or may not look criminal and suggest that when the time comes that she doesn't pound sand, you will turn it over to the police and then she might come to her senses. Start looking for credit card stuff, bank records etc.. Edited July 11, 20196 yr by Nueces River Rat

These situations are tough because it is his money to do with what he wants. Someone can be foolish with their money and not be declared incompetent. Just like dealing with a teenager and the love of their life, you don’t want to force your dad to defend his gf. Instead talk to him about planning for the future and what he wants to leave his kids, grandkids etc. don’t frame it as protecting his assets from the gf. That will fall on deaf ears.

You have to do it in kind of stealth like matter. I'd kind of butter him up for a while and then come to him with it and not even mention the GF. In fact shut off any complaining or suspicions about the GF altogether and then bring it up. But if you can get that POA signed and let some time pass, I'd start gathering evidence whenever I can (very stealth like when Dad is not paying attention) because you never know when shit is going hit the fan with a health scare or worse. Heck encourage them go out of town and you will look after the house. Look for suspicious receipts, things that are missing, etc and see if they can be traced to buyer and then when Dad is incapacitated, hit her with the evidence and give her a choice. Leave on your own or the local PD and APS will be here in 30 minutes to question you. I'd probably still sic the police on her anyway even if offered to leave voluntarily so she doesn't go on to another potential victim.
July 11, 20196 yr Get the POA under the guise of long term planning to ensure that you can help if needed....you know.....God forbid anything were to happen. Then whack him in the head with a 2x4 or throw him down the stairs and call 911. That'll lay him up for a while so you can use the POA to deal with this bitch.
July 11, 20196 yr @Fuck Tim Beck I can't imagine the stress this is causing you. Alcoholism (the angst, stress, heartache, frustration) is more contagious than Ebola, figuratively speaking.
