Texas Recruiting Notes 2024: Bags Don't Beat Bankrolls
I don't know about getting there from Texas, but Pagosa Springs is such a pain to get to from the East Coast. My in-laws built a place about 45 minutes out from there and it is more expensive and takes a lot longer to get there for holidays than it does when we just go to Europe...

Interesting breakdown of the Texas-OU Big 12 divorce. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/big12/2023/09/22/texas-oklahoma-big-12-sec-espn-role-realignment/70910157007/ It sounds like Texas is being made while by ESPN.- SEC mega screenshots

I'm pretty sure the Kansas game would have been on LHN if LHN was going to continue as an ongoing concern. My guess is that everyone agreed to end it with just the one game this year and play all of Texas' last year of Big 12 games on ABC/ESPN (other than any that end up on Fox obviously).- Week 4, 2023: Texas @ Baylor

They are garbage, although they tweaked the ranking methodology this year to to be slightly less garbage, which is why you see big public schools all rising in the rankings this year.- Texas Recruiting Notes 2024: Bags Don't Beat Bankrolls

Ran out of time to edit, but if they use the Big Ten system, I could see something like: I could see something like: Texas - OU, A&M, Ark A&M - Texas, LSU Ark - Texas, LSU OU - Texas LSU - A&M, Ole Miss, Ark Ole Miss - Miss State, LSU Miss State - Ole Miss Bama - Tenn, Auburn Auburn - Bama, UGA UGA - Florida, Auburn Florida - UGA Tenn - Bama, Vandy Vandy - Tenn USC - None UK - None Mizzou - None You could obviously add others (UF-Tenn or UF-Auburn, for insteance), but this seems to get anything that is seriously considered a rivalry without adding a ton of made up ones.- New SEC divisions and pods thread (Page 38 starts recent discussion)
I cannot imagine they want to lose Texas-A&M; Bama-Tenn, and Auburn-UGA. If not for those rivalries, I could see 1+8 working, but I cannot imagine they want to stop playing those every year. The closest they could come would be the Big Ten system of assigning each team a random number of rivals from 0-3.- New SEC divisions and pods thread (Page 38 starts recent discussion)
Yeah. There's pretty much no way to make fair pods and keep the most important rivalries together just because Auburn has rivalries with both Bama and Georgia, and Georgia's other rival is Florida. You could make reasonable rivalry and geographic pods by putting those four together, but that would be one hell of a death pod, especially because you would likely end up with Tennessee, USC, Vandy, UK and LSU, Ole Miss, Miss St, and Mizzou as two ridiculously easy pods.- Realignment talk not going away
There is no way to implement a salary cap without first determining the players are employees, then having them form a union, and then having them negotiate with the conference/teams for a system that includes a salary cap. Without that, it is clearly an antitrust violation.- Realignment talk not going away
It would definitely add a bit more intrigue - probably enough to get me to follow the game or check on the score, but probably not enough for me to watch the game. If I don't care about Baylor or Iowa State games in general, am I really going to care which conference each of those teams is going to be playing in next year?- Game Day Experience 2023
I have not been to a Texas home game in several years, but I've been to quite a few away games, including the Bama game this year. The Bama game was tons of fun, but included most of the stuff people are talking about - loud music, light shows, cell phone flashlights (including a wave), etc. I didn't really notice the band at all until I heard the Texas band playing a lot late in the game as the Bama fans started to filter out.- Texas Recruiting Notes 2024: Bags Don't Beat Bankrolls

You have to strike while the iron is hot (i.e., after beating Alabama).- Colorado vs Colorado State - ABC
CSU blew this game when they decided to punt in plus territory on 4th and less than 2.- Realignment talk not going away
The whole point is that the Pac 12 (and the 10 leaving schools) are/were saying they were still acting directors and were likely to vote to dissolve the conference after this season. WSU and OSU cannot risk that happening, so they had to get an injunction to prevent it - which they successfully obtained. Just letting the meeting go forward would be the equivalent of when the Pac 12 decided they did not need to get anything in the Alliance in writing.- Deion Sanders "Coach Prime" Now At Colorado
LOL, forgot to include the take:- Maryland vs. UVA - Football Experience
On the heals of attending the game at Bama, I am on a bit of a football high and planning on taking my 3 year old to his first football game tomorrow night when UVA travels to Maryland. I would have loved to take him to Bama, but figured the flights and tailgating would have been way to much for him. This seems like a better starter game. They will be playing at their real stadium on campus and not the monstrosity in Landover that the Texas game was at, so I have no experience with the immediate area or gameday experience. Has anyone been there and have any thoughts on parking, any issues with bringing a small child, wearing visitor's gear, etc.? My guess is that UVA will get trounced, as they have looked awful and Maryland is 14.5 point favorites, but it should be fun to check out the stadium and let my son enjoy the experience.- Deion Sanders "Coach Prime" Now At Colorado
I agree with this take. Trying to beat Coach Prime at his own game may not be the best strategy (but to be honest, what is there to lose as 20+ point underdogs), but it is certainly the most fun strategy. My wife went to CU and hasn't cared about CU football since the scandals of the early 2000s, but its more interesting when the CU-CSU rivalry is interesting (if not competitive). - Texas Recruiting Notes 2024: Bags Don't Beat Bankrolls
