I am scheduled to have a colonoscopy next Thursday. Yesterday, my PCP determined that I have a hernia. Same Doc doing the colonoscopy will do the hernia repair. I have a consult with him tomorrow to decide when it will happen and which gets done first. Is there any chance he can do both procedures at the same time? Just kidding. Maybe. I dunno.
I am a Luddite, Imma can attest, but it didn't take long to see that I had to log in. I couldn't remember my password because I haven't logged out since the first time I logged into Surly. 2 minutes later I had a new password (301WPatterson) and my sanity was restored.
I was confused for a minute but I figured it out. I'm really happy for you. I'll take this opportunity to thank this thread in general and you in particular for all of the advice and and willingness to engage my questions over the years. Y'all have been very helpful.
Rooskie pancakes for supper tonight. Just crepes brought from Ukraine by my Mennonite forebears. Filled with butter and sugar. Perfect supper for the blustery weather we’re having tonight.
50 years ago this coming October my FIL died from multiple myeloma. I went for the next 40 years without hearing about it until one of my best friends was diagnosed with it. He passed away a couple of years ago and since then I know of another 6-7 people in my extended circle of friends that have it. What is going on that it is seemingly more prevalent? Coincidence, maybe? Fuck cancer!
I have a ‘91 Club Car DS that I’m going to refurbish. The motor still runs but it is leaking oil around the crank seals and it has some vacuum leaks that make it doggy. I bought a HF 420 Predator motor to swap in. My plan is to keep it mostly stock because it’s my daily use cart for actual golf. I have a couple other carts to hotrod once I figure shit out with this one. I also figure that if I document it here I will be motivated to keep after it. Here’s a dirty and clean picture selection that shows the HF motor. I’m waiting for ball joints and bushings to arrive so I can upgrade the suspension. New shocks and I’ll be ready to move on to a motor mounting adaptor.
I am coming down with a cold, been sneezing all day. Pulled a can of Campbell’s split pea and ham soup from the cupboard and diced a quarter of a Spam brick. Browned the Spam and stirred it all together with a can of whole milk. I crumbled 6-8 saltines in my soup cup and filled it with the soup. I ate it all in 2 servings. No pictures but not much to see, really. A couple hours of Law and Order and I’ll be ready for bed.
It started getting light by La Junta, just in time to see Elk and Pronghorn along the tracks. I've done my time in places like Elkhart, Turpin and Syracuse, don't need to see that again. On the way back, it got dark just after the Raton Tunnel. Perfect timing. We did coach on the way down and I learned my lesson. We upgraded to a sleeper for the return and it was much better. Pretty sure we are going to book Chicago to Seattle next fall and see the Rockies. Probably fly home from Seattle. Washington and Oregon are the only states in the Lower 48 that I am missing from my been-there list. Get that done before I croak.
Wife and I are catching the Southwest Chief in Newton, KS at 2:00 in the fucking morning tomorrow to meet up with my kids for a week in Santa Fe. We are planning a trip from Chicago to Seattle next fall so this is a trial run of sorts to see if a longer trip is really in the cards. Beauty of it is that Western Kansas is in the dark both directions. Other than the odd departure time I'm looking forward to it.
