I really love that our two most high-profile professional athletes at the moment (and probably for the foreseeable future) are such high character guys. They represent Texas so well.
Love this story. I was just old enough in 92 / 93 to learn from my dad about and fall in love with Gusball (and Kieschnick in particular). I spent every weekend in the spring doing yard work with my dad listening to the Horns on our radio outside. Fast forward to when I was at Texas, and my girlfriend and I would bring our books to most of the games and study during the 05 season. One of my favorite memories is when Stubbs hit a walk-off over the green monster to beat OU in 10 innings. Her and I stayed til the end and grabbed some late-night dinner to celebrate at El Patio after the game. We've been married for almost twenty years now, still watch the Horns together, and still eat (HEB-bought) El Patio chips and salsa together, now with the kids in tow.
The half marathon was kicking my old ass and crappy knees this morning until I switched on the OTF podcast and promptly heard Bobby and Gerry talking up Harris for landing Rasheem Biles ("Brandon Harris deserves A LOT of credit for the work he's doing!"). I immediately thought of Surly and started cackling out loud. All the people passing me probably though I was having a seizure.
