Are we about to candy up our work clothes?
Fantastic! However I must be a contrarian and disagree that the dark brown helmet decal is a good thing. I know it was the wrong color for ages, and many like it because of that fact, but I think it should be orange like the rest of the uniform. It's still a great look though, and that should be our permanent jersey template both home and away.

Update from the Statesman on Giga Texas: Tesla’s Austin-area site could include battery production By Kara Carlson Posted at 2:30 PMUpdated at 6:05 PM Tesla could be planning to build more than just vehicles at its $1 billion assembly plant in southeastern Travis County. The electric vehicle manufacturer has plans to produce battery cells at the site, according to documents filed with the state. The company has already said it will produce its Cybertruck, Semi, Model 3 compact sedan and Model Y vehicles at the plant. Telsa has started construction on the Travis County site, and the company has begun hiring in Central Texas. Currently, Tesla’s job site lists more than 80 open positions in Austin. If a battery facility is added to the Travis County site, it would be among the first Tesla locations to have both full-scale battery and vehicle production, in addition to being its second U.S. vehicle assembly factory after its flagship Fremont, Calif., plant.

So uh..Austin Subway*, Light Rail Expansions and $3.2 - $10.2 Billion
The Amtrak map shown is not all brand new service in areas with no Amtrak trains currently. As a matter of fact, from looking at the map most of it is existing service. I doubt the plan is any new tracks in new right of way. They use freight lines owned by Union Pacific and others for their tracks. If anything this plan may pay for double tracking in certain busy spots to prevent having to pull over and allow freight traffic to pass which has ROW. It probably includes newer, higher speed trains as well. I imagine there will be more service similar to the Acela in the NE US on more lines across the US such as DFW- AUS-SAN which currently has shitty service. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acela

Apparently there are about 1000 signalized intersections within the Austin city limits. Of course each intersection has multiple stop lights, so we're talking several thousand stop lights spread over hundreds of square miles. It sounds like a pretty big job. Here's a link to check out if interested... https://data.mobility.austin.gov/signal-timing/

I did my civic duty and voted today. I saw a quote earlier today as well that I believe is relevant to this discussion that I want to share. "A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in."

Blastfurnace 2020: The Forcefield strikes back
It's definitely been warmer than normal, but like you said not too bad all in all. What I'm not thrilled about is the lack of rain. October in Austin averages nearly 4" of rain, the third highest monthly total of the year. I can't seem to recall much if any so far this month.

$3.50 a month? That's roughly 1/3 the cost of a 6-pack of good beer. That's a tough one...

I just saw Liberty Hill beat Travis 86-0. Liberty Hill rushed for 481 yards. Brutal.

Damn, I didn't realize Houston was a city of 10 million people, or a metro of 23 million. I also didn't realize Houston is considered a leader in mass transit which other cities should attempt to emulate. Learn something new every day.

If not Urban Meyer, who?
I can't actually bring myself to vote for him, but Bob Stoops would be so ludicrous it could possibly be awesome. Imagine the Longhorns destroying blowU and winning the big 12 pretty much every year. Unfortunately I can't quite envision such awesomeness, as it's never been reality. Maybe ole Goiter Bob can come to Austin, and take us to the Promiseland.

You reap what you sow. This is but one consequence of sprawling further and further into the countryside in a low density, auto oriented fashion for the last 70 years. But the anti transit people love their sprawl, and don't mind the multi billion dollar infrastructure extensions into the hinterlands.

Thank you for fighting the good fight. I don't have the energy anymore to try and convince people to support mass transit when they absolutely hate the city of Austin, Capital Metro, and urbanism. Maybe this will be the year where they no longer can vote in the numbers to prevent our city from investing in the future.

Sam Ehlinger
Ehlinger has 684 yards and 10 TDs in the last two weeks. 76 points scored in two losses. And some of y'all dipshits think the QB is the ptoblem?!?
-
Sam Ehlinger
Ehlinger accounted for 399 yards and 6 TDs. The good guys scored 45 points. Sam has his flaws, but to lay this loss on his feet is fucking stupid. He is our best QB in over a decade by a wide margin, and it's a damn shame that we do not have the coaching and players surrounding him to take advantage of finally having a good QB again.

And I wonder how much shutting down schools, offices, bars, etc. while everyone is still going to HEB, Walmart, Home Depot, eating out, etc. with bandanas on their faces has really slowed transmission. I suppose we will never know, but at this point I have my doubts.- Formerly DT: COVID-19 - Featuring Lots of Politics, now CR because political talk not going away
Yes, as that means roughly 1 person dies out of every 750 whom have contracted Covid-19. That seems.... not very bad. I am aware death rate is not the only factor to examine, but it may be time to realize we may have overreacted just a bit. We are nearly a year into this pandemic now, and it seems clear to me this is not anything near as terrible as the Spanish Flu, nor the Black Death. Maybe it really is just a new, slightly worse strain of the common cold?- Tesla
No doubt $500/month is on the low end, and you can easily spend twice that amount. But even $500 is a lot of money for someone living paycheck to paycheck who's struggling to pay rent, utilities, and keep food on the table. - Azerbaijani-Armenian Conflict
