  1. Stone once again proving the job is too big for him.
  2. Strom, Miller, and Murphy developed those guys and Miller is still here. I guess it is easier to write off a 10 game hot streak, even though the Astros completely changed his mix and sequencing.
  3. It comes from Eason's desire to be more a focal point of an offense and his desire to get paid, while the Rockets need to focus on the upcoming extension to Thompson. I doubt the Italian PM is going to want to pay a lof of LT for Eason.
  4. Framber, Javier, Abreu, and Garcia were all developed into 2-3 WAR pitchers by the Astros. Not too mention we changed the career trajectories of Cole, Morton, and Kikuchi. Then you have JAGGY relievers having success with the Astros. None of Okert, King, or Sousa have elite stuff but those 3 guys put up 1.5, 1.7, and 1.4 WAR respectively last year. Granted relievers are highly volative year to year, so I doubt those 3 put up similar seasons, but they have much better chance with the Astros. You could also add Brandon Walter's 9 GS last year in that group and Jason Alexander as well. You have Gordon, Arighetti, Blubaugh, and Burrows this season. The biggest problem for the Astros, and it's not something that is just an Astros problem, is the amount of pitching injuries that are becoming endemic in the majors. Which is why we acquired a lot of pitching. You now need 8+ starters to make it through a season, which has changed from the bygone days of 4-6 starters.
  5. I don't think Law is particularly good as his job. I think to some extent these lists have value, but with the caveat that none of the people who makes these lists get paid to draft and develop players into the major leagues. The Astros have greatly outperformed the blue blood franchises in players they drafted and developed in WAR, though it looks like we are trending the other way. I would put our pitching development up there with the best orgs in baseball right now. We just need to have the same energy and outcomes with the player side. The Astros should never have to rely on signging over the hill corner infielders ever again. Currently, the org's ability to develop Diaz, Smith, and Cole into 3-5 fWAR guys will mean a lot to the competitive window.
  6. We also took Melton over Anthony. Kinda sucks to run drafts when you are constantly changing your GM and organization. Hopefully Frey becomes our version of Corey Hart. Age 25-30: .277/.335/.495/.830, 118 OPS+, 143 HRs, and 76 SBs.
  7. There are 28 other teams in the NBA and none are remotely insterested in the Chris Paul experience. He's washed and a giantic pain the in ass. He sure has a lot of opinions on how to win for a guy that has won jack and shit in the NBA. The problem with the buy out market is the Rockets are hard capped and have very limited to funds. As currently constructed they are doing jack and shit in the playoffs against any team with 2+ good guards in their rotation. The Rockets have the cornerstone players in Sengun and Thompson. Everyone else should be expendable to make the team competitive in this 3 year window with Durant, which includes Eason (he's never going to resign here) and Sheppard (who will be unplayable in the 4Q of playoff games because he's such a defensive liability). The Rockets should try to keep their picks because they need to invest in young 3 and D guards and wings to put in the rotation around Sengun, Thompson, and Durant. Spefically guys that can dribble the ball without fumbling it to the other team when the situation calls for it.
  8. Van Vleet, Eason, and Sheppard work from the money side of things for Harden. Harden, Durant, and Sengun would be an offensive force.
  9. 9-9 and we are in easily, 8-10 we need a win in the conference tournament to make the play-in. We were 6-12 last year and got our ticket punched. Granted the SEC this year is not as good as last year, but there is no way a 9-9 SEC team isn't firmly in the field.
  10. In spite of a .545 OPS and a 52 OPS+, he still put up 0.6 WAR. Looks like he can still defend at the position. He did throw out 29.4 of would be base stealers last season, which is 8 points higher than league average, and 10 points better than Diaz.
  11. Eason was getting cooked by anyone he guarded in the 4Q. After Flagg made him his bitch on 4-5 straight possessions they flipped Thompson on him, Dallas countered by attacking Eason with Marshall and he made another easy basket. Eason is only good at shooting open set 3 pointers, the rest of his game sucks, including him trying to lead a fast break.
  12. I wasn't talking about pitchers. Brown finished 3rd in the last CY, he's easily on the star level. Pena is not, he's in the good player category.
  13. I think a better trade would be Finney-Smith and picks for Luke Kennard. Kennard is on an expiring deal and his hitting nearly 50% BTA. It would balance the roster more. It would also move the Rockets $1.7M further away from the apron, giving the team more more in the buy out market, or to make another trade.
  14. Yeah, we pump out a lot of quality MLB players, which was fine when we had stars in Atluve, Springer, Correa, Alvarez, Tucker, and Bregman. Since that core group we haven't added a single star to replace any of those guys. I think our scouting and player development is bottom of the barrell in the MLB. Though I am interested in seeing what they can do in the East Asia. Still though, Crane needs to invest a shit load more in player development.
  15. Unforunately, we don't have $30M to trade them to make the deal work.
  16. Does CJ McCollum outscore our entire bench tonight?
  17. Yeah, Mark was a no show again last night after 3-4 games of excellent play. We just can't win many games when all our guards have bad games. We foul way too much for us to have bad offensive games from the guards. In 85 MP our guards went 7-24 with 5 assists and 5 TOs. Wilcher has been a complete bust, and has just stopped shooting, he passed up so many open corner 3's which usually lead to a TO or late clock heave.
  18. If the Rockets are serious, which at this point I can't say the 100% are, they need two guards and another rotational big, if it takes Eason, Finney-Smith, and picks you do it. Eason is obviously pouting on the court and plays with minimal effort and that's when he's 100& healthy which is 55-60% of the time. For some reason Ime just doesn't like using Capela, even though he had 9 highly quality minutes in the 1st half. Udoka is really trying his best to get fired, that or he was a severely over-rated coach that had two top 20 guys which made him look a lot better than he really was.
  19. We have 3 in the 101-200 range. Matthews - 109 Janek - 178 Neyens - 185
