  1. I mean, I suppose it is when your assumptions are just being bellowed into an echo chamber of idiocy.
  2. Of all the disingenuous blather citing Texas as the sole party responsible for ā€œkilling conferencesā€ that bubbled up a couple of years ago, the most hilarious faux outrage came from those bringing up the SWC as some kind of evidence of Texas’s villainy. A conference with a presence in a single state and half of its members were private schools. And half of the conference seemed to be on probation every year. In a time when the sport’s economic evolution around broadcasting was coming into clear view. No serious person believes that conference had any possible fate, no matter what Texas or anyone else did, that wasn’t terminal.
  3. Tomorrow we’re getting this… …when we could be getting this…
  4. I often wonder what the narrative would be had Gideon held onto that INT and had Colt not injured his shoulder. 3 titles in a 5-year span, perhaps. Wait, no I don’t, because I don’t give a shit about the narrative and am uninterested in mental masturbation.
  5. I lived in Moore-Hill. Was walking downhill on 21st that day, hit some black ice, began sliding down the sidewalk. I’m from Houston for Christ's sake, I didn’t know how to stop the slide. After sliding about ten feet I tried to abruptly plant my heel, lost my balance, fell on my ass, and slid off the sidewalk and collided with a car that was parked against the curb. There was a girl walking by who saw the whole thing so, despite being in a not-insignificant amount of pain, I started laughing and said something self-deprecating to try and play it cool. She didn’t give a shit one way or another.
  6. One of their greatest seasons of at least the last 30 years: 11-2; 1 win over a team likely to finish the season in the top 25 Texas’s ā€œcollapseā€ season: 10-3; 4 wins over teams likely to finish the season in the top 25 Perception can be a funny thing.
  7. Well, Elway did his thing to the Oilers in the ā€˜91 playoffs too. That team was probably better than the ā€˜92 team. So maybe a little catharsis.
  8. The ceiling for the 2025 Texas team - QB’d by Manning - appears to be 2024 OU: really good defense with a limp-dick offense, mostly attributable to incompetent QB play. There is an argument to be made that even average QB play raises that ceiling. Could Caldwell be average? No clue. But if he can complete passes that almost every FBS QB consistently completes every week, that seems like an improvement. We’ve seen this movie before - this is going to be 2010 all over again if Texas sticks with Manning.
  9. Counterpoint: they should wear this for every home game, period, forever.
  10. I’m a big fan of Virginia’s unis. All orange isn’t my fav, but it isn’t bad and I’m a sucker for navy/orange combos. I’m particularly fond of the 1990 Shawn/Herman Moore throwbacks they recently wore. These are close enough.
  11. Less is more. Well done.
  12. Not only that, but you know who totally sucks at games that were never played??? Texas, that’s who! They always would have lost.
  13. Yeah, UNM has been using that script Lobos for a few years now. It’s fine I guess but I don’t see what value it adds. The Zia should always be the logo. Multiple logos waters down the brand. Feels like it is variety for variety’s sake. I’m of the opinion that Texas has the most recognizable/strongest brand in college athletics. In large part because they don’t fuck around with the logo or have alternate anything. Not suggesting UNM could build a brand like Texas but the Zia would make them immediately recognizable, and the turquoise would help too.
  14. No on the red/turqoise/red for me. The script helmet is fine (better than the cartoon lobos) but the Zia on silver helmet is perfect and anything else is inferior. I’d always have the Zia. If you want a white or red helmet, fine, but the Zia should be ubiquitous.
